Google’s Doodle today celebrates the 161st birthday of Julius Richard Petri, who gave science the Petri Dish. He also showed it’s less what you make your name in, and more what you put your name on, joining such luminaries as Robert Bunson, and John Calvin Dildo.

I used to get bored using stock cultures to streak out petri plates containing various media for quality control so I would start drawing pictures with the bacteria. Very artistic I thought. My supervisor did not agree.
