I don’t get it. I don’t even know what I’m looking at. The *Non Sequitur *comic strip for today, April 26, is a complete mystery to me. Can anyone tell me what is going on? What is the guy with the shovel holding in his right hand?
A “dog” leash. It looks like he has a very large, very large poop-producing animal as a pet. Perhaps a bull or horse.
In other words, if you ask for a refi, you’re going to get a lot of shit.
a link would have been nice… Non Sequitur by Wiley Miller for April 26, 2010 - GoComics
I’m glad someone asked. I was afraid I was the only one who didn’t get it. Frankly, even with the explanation offered by silenus, it doesn’t make much sense.

Meh, sense but not particularly funny.
He can get away with it not making sense by having named the strip Non Sequitur.
With silenus’ extrapolation, I think I can say with confidence that it’s a retractable dog leash. Filed under: not funny.
Never having heard of the comic until now, I took the OP----complaining that a non sequitur didn’t make sense----to be a joke.
I guess it isn’t, but it’s still funnier than the strip itself.

I think it could’ve been humorous in concept, but it was drawn poorly which made the joke non-obvious. A reader shouldn’t have to think too hard for a one-panel cartoon.
I agree. At first I thought the shovel guy was holding a fishing rod and reel with the rod bowing for some reason. I could not come up with any kind of a mental link for fishing/shovels/wheel barrows and mortgage financing.
I thought it was some sort of pressure-washing device or blower.
For those new to the strip: it has its ups and downs yes, but hits one out of the park about once a week or two.
