If you haven’t seen Han ni zai yiki aka Together (2002) , quit this thread now. I want to discuss a major plot point and everything would have to be in boxes, so I’m not putting anything in boxes.

OK. I have a couple of questions:
- It turns out that Xiaochun (the violin kid) was abandoned and adopted. Since my wife and I have adopted 1 Chinese girl and are doing paperwork for our second, we have done some study of the situation in China. No one abandons a healthy baby boy–girls yes, but not boys. So we wondered if the original script had a girl in the lead role which was changed because of official pressure. Does anyone have contacts who might know?
- What was Lili’s (the hooker) relationship with the sleaze guy? Why was she giving him money there at the beginning?
- Who leaves a $6,000 violin with an abondoned baby? I’m all for willing suspension of disbelief, but after we left the theatre I had to scrinch my face all out of shape for this to be OK.
Bonus violin player trivia: Li Chuanyun, the student that Professor Yu (the star maker) bawls out in the bathroom, was the actual violinist on the soundtrack. He studied at Juilliard. Tang Yun (Xiaochun) plays, but not at child prodigy level. He has never acted before.
