Token chinese

Oh come on, OP - I mean, Eric likes the Chinese!

Yeah, ikr?

Don’t forget this one:

…the OP is talking about movies like Meg 2: The Trench that was a joint American-Chinese production that featured actors like Wu Jing and Shuya Sophia Cai.

Which…isn’t a problem. I’m a big fan of Korean, Japanese and Chinese TV shows, and I think its fantastic that they get the opportunity to be seen by a new audience. And I’d much rather movies got funding and people in the movie industry keep working than not.

There’s also the issue of Chinese authorities banning LGBTQ content from movies, which has led many Hollywood movies to pre-emptively censor themselves.

Feel free to blame both. It’s not like there’s a limited amount of blame to go round.

OP will hopefully return to poo corner.

I am forbidden to post in foreign languages, so you will just have to pretend that,

“When the OP steps into poo corner, he will at last be home.” is written in both Mandarin and Cantonese.

Generally if there is an accompanying translation, I don’t think the mods mind.

The Meg was the first movie where I caught on to this, but it didn’t really bother me. (What did bother me was the stupid little dog…and they don’t get a pass for naming it after the one in Jaws).

The cure for this depression is one viewing of De Duve. All better.

Now that I think of it, wasn’t “Token Chinese” the follow-up single by The Vapors?

Very close; “Tokin’ Chinese” was an ode to Asian cannabis.

I heard that the Chinese are eating all the cats and dogs in Hollywood.

I thought it was kind of lame how Amazon’s Fallout TV show carefully avoided any mention of China (when there are quite a few mentions of China in the video games).

I prefer my provocive very thinly sliced and wrapped around a perfectly ripe black fig.

Y’all are provicival maniacs.

…in scandinavia, they are eating all the cats and dogs is scandinavia.

Wait! There’s still more space dust on this book.

How to cook hunanese.

Well, if you were trying to make Serak cry, mission accomplished. /s

Does Ingrid Bergman get any grudging support from the Scandinavian haters? She plays a missionary in China in Inn of the Sixth Happiness, as part of the Swedish invasion of China via Hollywood, so it’s even up now.

And they’re fighting us with movies?

We will fight them on the greenscreen, we will fight them on the soundstage, we will never say cut
