I agree and I’m still pissed about the Chinese piano player at the White House and making President Obama wait on the tarmac for an hour. Those acts are dwarfed by the real damage they’ve caused around the globe. The latest would be the damage done by commercial vessels dragging their anchors over cables.
I’m thinking Star Trek TOS. Red shirt the Chinese actors. I’d also add some “Charlie Chan” backdrop characters who are not Chinese just to further rub their nose in it.
The song is based on a song called “My Motherland” from the movie "Battle_on_Shangganling_Mountain which is a film about a Chinese victory in the Korean War.
From your own cite:
We have a perfect example of that this week in US-China relations. Conservative commentators in the US and the most rabid nationalists in China share the view that Chinese pianist Lang Lang dissed America with a piano piece he played at the state dinner President Obama hosted for President Hu Jintao last Wednesday.
You can believe a Chinese citizen/professional musician didn’t know he was playing a song from a military movie. You can believe he didn’t know that Chinese nationals would see it as a snub to the United States and our President. That’s your purgative. but it’s far from paranoid to suggest it was deliberate. China is actively provoking conflict with their neighbors and actively attempts to coerce it’s own people politically.
As for the tarmac snub the Chinese government claimed miscommunication issues when they didn’t bring stairs to meet AF-1. The US requested an English speaking rider in the stairs-truck. this is not some last minute change of events. Such things are worked out well in advance. President Obama ended up using the built in lower stairs that are unique to the plane to disembark. Considering the presidential support group carries a set of stairs for this use the Chinese claim lacks any basis of fact.
It was intended as an insult to a regime with interment camps for Uyghurs. I have no respect for the current Chinese government and how they treat their own citizens and their surrounding neighbors.
Who do you think is running China now? Again, they have internment camps to reeducate their own citizens. They track every aspect of social life. This is not a free nation.
I’m married to a Chinese-American with family in China. I’ve been there numerous times, on business and pleasure. My wife was in Tiananmen Square when shit went down. I know a thousand times more about China than you do, you idiot. China has gone backwards in human rights and freedom in the last ten years, and the starting point was pretty horrible. Everyone knows this, no one is denying this.
It still doesn’t mean that your idiotic imaginings are worth anything more than mockery.
Having said how horrible human rights are there you of all people should be aware of the physical harassment China has engaged in on the world stage. I leave you to your token Chinese support. Best of luck if you’re visiting there when the shit hits the fan.
You. When you consider insults to your own country as fantasy when they are physically harassing their own neighbors. Insults are the lesser side of the same coin.
