IMDB says no, but he did star in a recent episode of House, MD.
Are we going to make this the thread for the discussion of the show? I’ll assume… yes.
First off, can’t we have a gay couple that doesn’t have the “girly” one and the “guy” one? Are the writes concerned we wouldn’t get it if one of the dads wasn’t flaming?
Second, wow on the George-Meh thing. I do think she was using him, and that’s bad, but for him to up and leave in the middle like that? Harsh.
And Denny and Izzie together are a gazillion times better than Alex-Izzie.
There’ll be more when I rewatch it, I’m sure.
BTW, did I blink and miss the end of the kid’s story? I saw the dad throw up (that didn’t look remotely like Andrew to me. For one, that guy was at least 20 years older) and then …
Was there more? Did they just drop it?
As far as George/Meredith - she’s doing some kind of “bravely suffering through it” act and asking “aren’t you done yet?” He should stick around for that?
I’m with Izzie, on George’s side.
But I did love the “does he need surgical intervention?” line.
No, it was Jonathan Slavin. He was on Andy Richter Controls The Universe.
Y’know, I don’t really recall there being any resolution after the vomiting either. I just figured it was my trying to finish some work before going to bed that was to blame. I guess no news is good news, and the kid didn’t fit so well in George doing the final voiceover?
And I assumed the kid was adopted. According to about.com (how I loathe using it as a resource), Washington is among the states that will allow Second Parent Adoptions (but not joint adoptions) for gay couples (bullet point 6 - Legalities).
My eyes are a little crossed by early Monday morning tiredness. Washington has both Second Parent and Joint adoption options.
Hell, bravely suffering would have been an improvement. The weeping and the hysterics would have been enough to drive me off even *without * the “You’re almost done, right?” Poor George.
And gee, now that she’s done (we hope) emotionally damaging George, she can move on to pounding the final nail into McDreamy’s marriage*. Lovely.
Am I meant to sympathize with this human wrecking ball? If she was twenty, I might, but she’s not, and that level of narcissism is not attractive on grown people.
*Yes, McDreamy’s marriage is McDreamy’s problem, and he’s even more of a selfish ass than she is. That doesn’t absolve her.
Ok, thank you all.
My wife is never gonna let me hear the end of it.
I guess the voice just sounded a lot alike, and I got convinced. This happens with me a lot.
Does any website reveal the actress that played Doctor Katherine Torres (the one who looked at George’s shoulder)? Google just throws its hands up.
Are we actually supposed to sympathize with Meredith? I’m being serious. For that matter, are we supposed to find her attractive? I don’t know how to describe it. I find her aggravating and I sometimes I’m glad when crappy things happen to her. Is that what the writers are going for? I also find her so unattractive in some shots as to be borderline deformed.
On the other hand, if the character elicits that much reaction from me, I think that’s a credit to the actress (Ellen Pampeo???)that plays her.
Found it – Sara Ramirez, who won the 2005 Featured Actress Tony for Spamalot.
I don’t know what we’re supposed to think about Meredith. Maybe she’s supposed to be sympathetic because here’s this smart, pretty, well-off young woman and despite all that she’s a major screw up. She makes very bad choices even though she apparently doesn’t want to be such a screw up. Perhaps we’re supposed to sympathize with her for that, because sometimes we all screw up.
I enjoyed George being the narrator of this one. Perhaps we can make this show just about George? He’s actually the most human and the most normal of the bunch.
Woah-oh there she goes.
Watch out George, she’ll chew you up!
Woah-oh there she goes.
She’s a maaaan-eater!
I’m also in the Meredith-hating camp. I really wish the writers had made the main character Christina, George, or Izzy, or…hell, anyone else. (Other than McSleazy, I mean. Can’t stand him either.) If only they’d write Meredith out and call the show “George’s Anatomy.” No, wait, that sounds a little naughty… I really like George, though, and I think it’s because he reminds me a bit of my best friend. I’m proud of him. He did what he wanted to do, he doesn’t regret it, and he’s glad for the fallout, no matter what the cause, because now he knows where he stands and can move on with life. You rarely get those moments–where you completely muck things up, feel like absolute ass for a while, and come around to a refreshing clarity that makes your mistakes worth it.
That’s exactly what writer Shonda Rhimes says in her blog on the ABC network’s website:
I don’t know. This was the first time I remember seeing McDreamy really laugh, and it was with his wife. But you’re right that Meredith should know better than to try and hang out with him as just friends. She falls for his let’s be friends line just like her head was turned by George’s line.
This is a leftover peeve from the bomb episode, but could they have spared a moment to give a nod to the two guys who got blown up? Nope, it’s shower Meredith off and continue with the soap opera?!?
