Today I was reminded of this delicacy by a glimpse of it on tv. I had it pizza joints in New York City or New Jersey or both back in the 60s and loved it. I searched and found some pictures and would like a recipe or two. One was at Marucas, a round shape with a spiral design on top. The other was rectangular with no, or very little, cheese. Both had pretty thick crust kinda like focaccia and a lot of tomato.
I’ve also had the kind from the south in a regular pie shell, but that’s not what I crave.
Anyway, I’d sure like a recipe or two for tomato pie (not pizza)
Thanks
Sound like what you’re looking for is Sicilian pizza

Sounds good. Needs garlic.
I just had an epiphine.
I googled “sfincione” and found several variations of the basic pie (which is delicious) you linked too. That’s what I was looking for.
Anyone who hasn’t tried it really should.
Anybody want to suggest a good Chianti?
