I was watshing Tombstone the other day on Showtime (or one of the others that shows movies uncut) and something is bothering me. There is a scene near the end of Tombstone where Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp and his gang are hunting down the remaining Cowboys after Doc has dispacthed the main bad guy.
Here is the scene I saw: There is a Comboy on as horse running for all it’s worth, he reaches down and unlashes his red sash, letting it fly. Cut to Wyatt and gang just behind them. Kurt reaches down to his right then leans up and high fives the guy riding next to him.
Now this isn’t the first time I’ve seen it this way, TBS was running it extensively a while back, so I assumed that the scene was altered for broadcast.
Here’s the problem:
I remember the scene as: There is a comboy on as horse running for all it’s worth, he reaches down and unlashes his red sash, letting it fly. Cut to Wyatt and gang just behind them. Kurt reaches down to his right, snatches up the sash (it hadn’t yet hit the ground), catches then shoots the cowboy throwing down the sash on top of the dead Cowboy.
Now I admit, that I prefer my scene, due to the nature of the Cowboys, and maybe misremembering it, however my wife also remembers it my way. Anybody else remember it my way?
I just checked the DVD and the Cowboy throws his sash down, but Earp holsters his gun and shakes hands with Doc Holiday and the two continue riding off.
Yep. He should have died in the bar when he threaten the Earps. He should have died at the corral, but he yelled that he didn’t have a weapon. He should have died when he tried to shoot the Sam Elliot character on the train. He should have…ad infinitum
