Tom’s always impressed me with his intelligence and decency, both as poster and mod. I can’t recall disagreeing with any of his moderating decisions, but if I ever do, I’ll still know he has the best interests of the board at heart.
Tom is so reasonable and well-informed that eventually I will have to re-examine very early minor disagreements that I had with him about Cole Porter and the KKK. That was years ago, but it haunts me.
Tom is one of those rare birds who is able to give words to what I am thinking. That’s the very definition of a teacher.
And he moderates without unnecessary clobbering.
I agree with the bouquets being thrown at tomndebb. Although we disagree from time to time, I’ve always found him to be very calm, level-headed and well-spoken…and very, very patient.

Tom posted a great reply when I asked about intelligent design in the Lekatt pit thread, and overall he’s a fantastic mod. Kudos!
What this proves is that, when you disagree with someone, and they explain their position in a calm fair manner, the other person is much more likely to see the point. Other “rulers” here should follow tom’s example.

I am fortunate to have known Tom my whole online experience. He was in the same place I started and am better for having him in my online life.
Interestingly, I’m told that Spot is the brains behind the GusNSpot username, and Gus merely types because Spot’s paws can’t work a keyboard.
Tom’s been so cool and even handed over the years that I’ve become convinced he’s actually an Agent for our Alien Overlords (who have yet to publicly reveal their existence), sent to Earth to bring us squabbling monkeys up to speed, civilization-wise, with his calm logic, vast knowledge, and even temperment.
He looks down upon us screeching, poop-flinging primates with benevolence, as he patiently guides us to the path of Enlightenment before we join the rest of the Great Galactic Federation of Wise and Benevolent Beings.
Or the guy’s just a friggin’ freak of nature. :dubious:
