The song is titled “Johnny’s Theme,” and was as you know composed by Paul Anka. According to this informative site, it was first titled “Toot Sweet”, then had lyrics added and was re-christened “It’s Really Love” when released by Annette Funicello in 1959. It was just recycled and re-titled “Johnny’s Theme”, sans lyrics, for use on the Tonight Show.
I can’t find the lyrics to Funicello’s “It’s Really Love” online, but that’s what you need to look for.
