Tonsillectomy & adenoidectomy question

**Fang **had his tonsils and adenoids out a couple of weeks ago. He got through it like a champ, and I’m very proud of him.

His mother and I are hoping that this will eliminate the continuing episodes of strep throat and his snoring. There is one odd thing, though. His voice has changed. It’s gotten higher in pitch. Honestly, it sounds like he’s constantly whining. It’s like nails on a chalkboard.

Does anyone know whether this sort of thing is common?

I got my tonsillectomy/uvulopalatopharyngoplasty as an adult, and at two weeks I was still in substantial enough amount of pain that my voice was different. At three weeks it was back to normal.
