Tony Scott dead of apparent suicide

Ah, I figured something had happened. I’ve seen interviews and he did not seem the kind for suicide unless something like this was about to bring terrible pain and agony. Sad.

Witnesses say he did not wait at all. He just got up there and jumped immediately. :frowning:

One of his best films was The Fan with Wesley Snipes as a star outfielder for the Giants and Robert DeNiro as an obsessed stalkerish fan.

He had a distinguished career. I would not blame him for not wanting to suffer. It is a tragic loss.

I think it’s kind of fitting (if tragic) that he should choose a bridge for his final exit. Bridges figured in many of his movies as backdrop to or scene of a disaster. It’s the way an action director might choose to go.

Hell yeah, one day The Fan will be rediscovered! Looking over his filmography, I’ve either seen everything Tony Scott has done or put it in the “I want to see that!” pile. The true mark of a great director.

I don’t blame him…if I had inoperable brain cancer, I’d check out on my own terms too. Not by jumping off a fucking bridge though…I’m scared of heights.
