I need a nice long list of angry or sad or happy songs to download. Thanks.
I must warn you, you must have an open mind for some of this stuff:
Eminem - Kim (Angry, Sad?)
Eminem - Just don’t give a f*ck (Angry)
Garbage - Drive you home (Sad)
Garbage - Sleep together (Sad)
Garbage - Sleep (Sad, They’re separate songs)
Garbage - Medication (Sad, if you’re like, you’ll be taking drugs to this one)
Korn - Fagget (Angry and Sad, A lot of Korn songs are angry and sad, get 'em all)
Dido - (Sad, Happy, all the songs)
Cardigans - (Sad, Happ, Get the whole Gran Turismo album)
Kay - Addict (Sad)
Also, basically any Eminem Song will get you Angry, if you can follow it.
How’s about a handful of each? Of course, you may hate any or all of these, but they’re the ones that always manage to find their way back into my playlist.
Angry:
“Sonne,” Rammstein
“Trigger-Happy Jack,” Poe
“One More Addiction,” Natalie Imbruglia
“The First,” Tegan and Sara
Best of category: “One of These Days,” Pink Floyd
Best album: Animals, Pink Floyd
Sad:
“Alter Mann,” Rammstein (or for a really creepy/sad one, try “Klavier”)
“Echoes,” Pink Floyd
“General Taylor,” Great Big Sea
“Skating Away (on the thin ice of a new day),” Jethro Tull
Best of category: “4 A.M.,” Our Lady Peace
Best album: Catfish Rising, Jethro Tull (bluesy)
Happy:
“Tombstone,” Suzanne Vega
“Ordinary Day,” Great Big Sea
“Weathercock,” Jethro Tull
“Sexuality,” k.d. lang
Best of category: “Fall Away,” My Brilliant Beast (hard to find, but well worth it)
Best album: Sea of No Cares, Great Big Sea
Good luck.
Angry + Sad + Happy all in one? “Interjections,” from the Schoolhouse Rock series.
You’re happy … HOORAY!
You’re sad … AWWW!
You’re frightened … EEK!
You’re MAD … RATS!
Well, going back a few decades, one of the angriest was Barry Maguire’s “Eve of Destruction”. (mid - 1960’s)
Here’s a link to the lyrics:

Incidentally, that four-letter word was NOT in the original rendition. Sheesh that was 1965 !!!
I think almost anything from Cursive’s Domestica or The Ugly Organ qualifies as angry/sad. Domestica was a concept album about the lead singer’s divorce; The Ugly Organ was largely about what happened afterward.
In particular, “The Casualty” and “The Martyr” provide a heavy one-two punch to begin Domestica.
I wouldn’t necessarily say these are the best songs on the album, but “Butcher The Song”, “A Gentleman Caller” and “Sierra” fit the opening post’s requirements pretty well from The Ugly Organ.
For anger it’s hard to beat any Rage Against the Machine song, I would suggest “A bullet in your head”, “Township Rebellion”,
“Bulls on Parade”, and “Freedom”. Another really angry song is “Fucking Hostile” by Pantera (all of thier stuff is pretty angry too). Nine Inch Nails would also qualify if you like techno-type stuff. If you want something more along the lines of destruction, try “While the City Sleeps” by MC 900 Ft. Jesus.
“Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails is very sad (covered by Johnny Cash!)
“I see a darkness” Johnny Cash
“Black” Pearl Jam
For some fun I always check out The Flaming Lips, and Primus. They don’t take themselves very seriously, which brings a smile to my face.
Sad - Rainy Night in Georgia (Tony Joe White) http://fransandree.tripod.com/lyrics/id104.html
Angry - Brown Shoes Don’t Make It (Frank Zappa) http://www.lyricsfreak.com/f/frank-zappa/56915.htm
Happy - Sleigh Ride http://www.nevada.edu/~blake/Christmas.songs.html#Sleigh%20Ride
my saddest songs…
“Never is a Promise” - Fiona Apple

“Alone Again (Naturally)” - Gilbert O’Sullivan

Nihilistic/Angry: Warren Zevon, Ain’t That Pretty At All
Sample lyric:
I’ve been to Paris,
And it ain’t that pretty at all.
I’ve been to Rome…
Guess what?
I’d like to go back to Paris someday,
And go to the Louvre museum.
Get a good running start,
And hurl myself against the wall.
'Cause I’d rather feel bad,
Than feel nothing at all.
And it ain’t that pretty at all.
No, it ain’t that pretty at all.
And I’m gonna hurl myself against the wall,
'Cause I’d rather feel bad,
Than feel nothing at all.
Angry
Never piss off Bob Dylan.
Positively 4th Street and Masters of War (Get the Eddie Vedder version)
Rollins Band - Just Like You (Very long, but the extended section of Rollins screaming “RAGE!!” can be quite cathartic.)
**Sad **
Tom Waits - Ruby’s Arms
Paul Kelly - How To Make Gravy
Happy
Frente! - Ordinary Angels
Fishbone - Everyday Sunshine
Travelling Wilburys - End Of The Line
Did you mean “Not an Addict” by K’s Choice? It’s a good recommendation if that’s the one you meant.
Yep, that’s what I meant. I was a wee bit tired when I posted that.
Bumps Anyone else with thoughts on this topic? I’m looking for songs/albums that evoke any sort of stong emotion- Happiness, sadness, grief, joy, etc- To add to my playlists that I use while writing.
For “Depressing” may I submit…
Jar of Flies (whole album) by Alice In Chains
“Let Me In”, by REM (Album: Monster)
