Top 3 favorite Rolling Stones songs

Honky Tonk Women
Paint it Black

Those two were easy. Number 3 changed about half a dozen times as I was reading through the responses in this thread. For the moment, it’s:

Mother’s Little Helper

High and Dry is a good’un. Also, from the same record, Think.

Angie
Gimme Shelter
Sister Morphine

Damn, this is harder than it seems.

  1. All Down the Line. And by this I mean any track off of ‘Exile on Main Street’. Any track.

  2. Anybody Seen My Baby. Got a problem with this? Bite me.

  3. Wild Horses.

  4. Dead Flowers.

Damn, this IS harder than it seems.

  1. I came in to say Happy. (Although by most accounts this was recorded in an hour or so, with Keith singing only because Mick and most of the others hadn’t shown up yet). Yet Turds on the Run is also on Exile
  2. Gimme Shelter (Mick tells the story behind Gimme Shelter)
  3. You Got To Move - cover from Sticky Fingers

What can I say? Their version of “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” is the iconic one to me.

If I had to replace it on my list, I’d go with Mother’s Little Helper.

Sister Morphine
Street Fighting Men
Fool to Cry

Gimme Shelter
Honky Tonk Women
Brown Sugar

Honorable mention:
The Last Time
Can’t You Hear Me Knocking

OK, so I cheated…

*Satisfaction
*Far Away Eyes
*She was Hot

Despite what I said earlier, I think this is true for me as well.

Too hard. I figured I’d be the only one to say "Knockin’". Surprised to see it mentioned so often.

*Far Away Eyes

Little T & A*

Too many to pick.

Sympathy for the Devil
Paint it Black
Amanda Jones

though there are lots of others mentioned here, especially Gimmie Shelter, which could easily be in the top 3.

Same here. The opening riff to …Knocking is probably one of the best rock and roll riffs ever crafted. Just nasty and greasy.

Same three for me too.

  1. Dead Flowers
  2. Rocks Off
  3. Rip this Joint

only three?

  1. Brown Sugar
  2. Carol (Ya-Ya’s)
  3. Lets Spend the Night Together
