Top movie of the decade?

Amazingly, we are exiting another decade in about 50 days or so. Has me thinking about what the best movies of the decade were. Feel free to list multiple movies, but perhaps bold your top pick for the best movie.

My quick list is:

**Mad Max Fury Road
**
Hereditary

Inception

Avengers: Endgame

What We Do In the Shadows

My favorite movies of past decade:

Logan (The best movie of the X-Men franchise.)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Deadpool

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Winter’s Bone

War Horse

Inside Out

Frozen

The Grand Budapest Hotel
Blade Runner 2049
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Inception
Mad Max: Fury Road
Moonrise Kingdom
Rogue One
True Grit
The Witch

The World’s End
Stuff I really liked, not mentioned before:

Only Lovers Left Alive
Byzantium
Easy A
Spotlight
Kingsman: The Secret Service
Paul
The Wind Rises

Avengers: Endgame
Deadpool
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Inception
Mad Max: Fury Road
The Martian
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
The Social Network
The Wolf of Wall Street
Zootopia

Mad Max: Fury Road

Beyond the Black Rainbow
Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World

Mad Max: Fury Road

It’s the only movie listed so far that I’ve seen more than once. In fact I’ve probably watched it a few dozen times by now.

I’d like to add Dr Sleep. This film is brilliant. I saw it again 2 days later and it held up perfectly. Sadly, it seems like the crap that was It 2 is dragging this much better film down with it.

+1
Damn, that’s almost entirely my own list, Blue. Except I put BR 2049 at the top, and haven’t yet seen The Witch.

Ex Machina
Arrival
Paterson (It’s brilliant! Rent it!)
Carol
Only Lovers Left Alive
Scott Pilgrim vs the World
Under the Skin
Mad Max: Fury Road

In order of release date:

Inception
The King’s Speech
Midnight in Paris
Lincoln
Les Miserables
The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Monuments Men
The Imitation Game

Hail, Caesar!
Dunkirk
Darkest Hour

Since 2010, I’m assuming?

Get Out

It Follows

Tangerine (2015) Sean Baker
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018) Joel and Ethan Coen
Zama (2017) Lucrecia Martel

My opinion hasn’t changed since 2016.

The Hurt Locker
Inglorious Basterds
The Social Network
Silver Linings Playbook
The Big Short
10 Cloverfield Lane
Get Out
The Martian
Hidden Figures
Star Wars: The Force Awakens

There’s a few I still need to see:
Hacksaw Ridge
Dunkirk
The Grand Budapest Hotel

Loved Black Rainbow, but would put Mandy over it.

Arrival
The Martian
Ex Machina
Winter’s Bone was good, it’s been long enough since I’ve seen it that I can’t really remember it well enough to rate it in the “best” category.

I liked “Her”

The list of possibly-great movies from the last decade that I have yet to see is fairly long and includes Mandy.

These are just the ones that I’ve seen that I would put on this list.

2010:

How to Train Your Dragon
Toy Story 3
Knight and Day
Despicable Me
Inception
Easy A
The Social Network
Megamind
Tangled
Black Swan

2011:

Rio
Winnie the Pooh
X-Men: First Class
Captain America: The First Avenger
In Time

The Hunger Games
The Avengers
Brave
The Dark Knight Rises
Looper
Argo (fuck yourself)
Skyfall
Wreck-It Ralph
Lincoln

2013:

42
Iron Man 3
Gravity
Frozen

2014:

Whiplash
Boyhood
The Lego Movie
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Big Hero 6

2015:

Inside Out
Mr. Holmes
The Martian
Bridge of Spies
Star Wars: The Force Awakens

2016:

Zootopia
Captain America: Civil War

The Lego Batman Movie
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

2018:

Avengers: Infinity War

Lots of terrific choices so far, but how can you leave out The Master.

While I’m here, I’ll add my support to:

Boyhood
Grand Budapest Hotel
Ex Machina
Darkest Hour

ETA: And Bridge of Spies
