Was out of town, and came back hoping to see reviews and opinions, but nothing? Unless I am missing it? I enjoyed it, the first part dragged some, but the ending was great and left me wanting more.
I made it 80% of the way through…I should go finish it…
It was first broadcast (an torrented by everyone) in 2011. There’s probably a thread somewhere.
I didn’t like it very much, and really try to.
Goodness!! Mea Culpa!! :smack:
We’re watching it this time around. It was on a channel we didn’t get and I never got around to watching it on Netflix (was it even available?).
Briefly, but Starz and Netflix failed to come to an agreement when its contract ran up.
They killed off a character mid season that I thought made the show interesting and worth watching. After that I just couldn’t enjoy it. I won’t spoil it for anyone and say who.
The previous series (Children of Earth) was better. But Miracle Day had more money because of the involvement of Starz, and so it was clearly more expensive.
Hated it. A lot.
It was interesting. I thought they had a good idea and they had some good parts but they got a little bogged down trying to tell the story. I liked the addition of Esther and Rex and I thought having Rex become sort of a parallel capt. Jack was interesting but I don’t really know what the point of Oswald Jones (Bill Pullman’s character) was. there was a little too much “Torchwood’s on the run” going on and it seemed recycled over and over. The ending didn’t quite pay off but the show did have a couple good character moments. The idea of flipping around trauma centers and fixing the people you could fix first was interesting.
Not the best series but it’s decent. I say watch it if you’re a Torchwood fan.
Can I say that I can’t be the only person who was annoyed at BBCA’s constant hyping of The Premiere Of Torchwood Miracle Day Right Here On B B C America? I honestly questioned my sanity a few times. I couldn’t remember what channel it had aired on previously, but BBCA seemed as likely as any.
I don’t think I made it past the halfway point. The premise was very interesting, and some of the early parts exploring the implications of the new world were quite intriguing, but it seemed like it lost interest in building a coherent world pretty quickly in favor of pursuing a much more conventional and bland story filled with convoluted schemes and idiot balls. It really was a shame because some of those early scenes and ideas were very strong.
Actually, no. Originally, it aired on Starz, and this was, I think, the first time that BBC America was able to air it, even though BBCA aired the previous Torchwood series.
I enjoyed it. I kinda missed the humor of the earlier seasons, but as fan of the show I give it a thumbs up.
I loathed it.
I saw it back when and it was ok.
I still don’t really understand how:
Those couple of families that took Jacks blood was able to turn that into the entire world being immortal and why that would have any impact to make Jack mortal. I understand there was an energy vagina connecting two points on Earth but I have no idea how it was related to anything. Unless it was, “Magic Vagina makes mortals immortal and immortals mortal.”
I don’t think how the events occurred was explained, and I don’t think the story held together very well. As I said, I think Children of Earth was better.
Well wiki wasn’t much help.
In 1998 the Blessing was found by the families. The Blessing is, according to wiki, “an unexplained rock formation controlling the morphic field”. Whatever the hell that is. But it’s the things at the two opposite points on the globe. The Miracle happened when the Blessing “reacted defensively when introduced to Jack’s immortal blood.”
So the Magic Rocks made everyone immortal when introduced with Jacks immortal blood. And to make everyone mortal again the gang introduces the Magic Rocks with Jacks blood again. Makes perfect sense to me.
But I definitely agree Children of Earth was really good and I’m glad that guy, who was great in CoE, is going to be the new Doctor.
