As to the BBQ issue, can we not pick up sandwiches or subs from some place and take them there? After the Friday Night DrunkDope® with Eonwe, I don’t think I’ll be in the mood to make sandwiches… :eek:
Cerowyn, the posse of five will be in Friday between 11 and 12. Depends on Montreal rush-hour traffic, and the obligatory stop to eat at some point.

Okay… I’ll be bringing my boombox, one set of batteries, and maybe a few CDs (although listening to recorded music has never been a primary goal of picnicking for me). Also some food and a folding chair. I could get there a little earlier, but then, if I found a picnic spot open, how would everyone else find it and me? Maybe I’d better email Cerowyn my cellphone number…

Geez, when I saw “John St” I thought we were talking about the area near CityTV/Speakers Corner, but double-checking the restaurant address, it does indeed look like it’s way out there…

No, it is the John Street that CityTV/Speaker’s Corner is on. There might be another Montana’s on another John Street, but the one we’re talking about is the one I had lunch at today: John and Richmond Streets, a block from CityTV and a couple of blocks from SkyDome.
What are the chances of a Montana’s being on two streets of the same name and at the exact same street number AND in teh same city…it’s mind boggling. 
Check this. I ran “Montana” through Canada411 and there is no listing for the Montana’s on John downtown.

I’m coming from Kitchener so I have to make a drive anyway, but I just want to make sure we have the location right.
I had a map printed for the 145 John location as well as the map for the directions to the Subway so I could plot out my trip to get off at the High Park station. But I looks like I need to review it.
Nothing worse than driving a long way, only to arrive at the wrong location.

Phew! Good to hear it. I work in that area and I THOUGHT I knew the place we were talking about, but then I too did a Canada411 search and only got Montana’s in York, so I thought I was wrong.
Kwyjibo - I’m a former Waterloo-ian myself. I know some good parking areas around here (underground and affordable) so e-mail me if you need the details.
DrunkDope is in Brampton? Bummer that means driving out there… and no drinkin’ for me.
I plan on driving to Islington station and taking the Subway in to Osgoode.
Saves gas and the parking is easier.

Just talked to the folks at Montana’s, and I thought I’d better mention something: After 9pm, if we want to go upstairs after dinner, there is a dress-code. They don’t allow running shoes, torn jeans or “head-gear” (hats, scarves, etc.).
Of course, if it’s a problem, we can always go elsewhere at that time.

I crashed the picnic and had a great time - but had to head out in the late afternoon. Thanks to Cerowyn for barbecuing for the teeming dozen. Also got to hear about scott evil’s musicals, play football with eonwe and new and improved scott, and witness a graceful display of belly dancing! (Lissla Lissar didn’t let her alleged shyness get in the way of her willingness to dance for a bunch of dopers and innocent passersby in High Park.)
It was great to meet all the rest of of you IRL. Sorry I missed Kwyjibo and anyone else who joined up after I left.
