The streetcar, bus, and subway are all part of the same system and take the same fares. You may need a transfer to change from one to another though.

I’ve done it. Buses too.

When I was living not too far from York university (after the ‘student discount metropass’ project folded in 1997,) I’d try to walk the half hour to campus whenever I could, and would keep a supply of tokens in an old wallet for taking the bus when I was tired, getting downtown to take the bus back to hamilton, and other purposes. They seemed much cooler than tickets (which I had been using for about ten years back home.)

Now… well, after a few years with it, I’m still kinda fond of Burlington’s comboPass system, where you can load money electronically onto your card and it gets deducted every time you use it… unless it’s a valid transfer within the appropriate time period. :slight_smile:
