Toronto Transit down yesterday.. why?

Anyone from the Toronto area know why the TTC subway was shut down yesterday from Lawerence to Finch station?

The announcement said that their was a power shortage at Sheppard station.

But once outside, the stories varied from fire at Sheppard station to a suicide.

Anyone know the real story?

There is nothing in the newspaper or Toronto Star site regarding the outage that lasted 1 hour and caused thousands of people to walk to work or wait for the shuttle bus. …

Could it be a suicide at Sheppard station?

Well, from talking to TTC employees, I gather that when there is a large shutdown, and they are vague about the cause, suicide is often what happened. And I’m pretty sure they’d cut off the power in order to deal with the suicide, so the power shortage announcement would be accurate. Having said that, I have no specific knowledge of what happened yesterday.

So… why did I post? … Oh well, might as well submit now that I’ve written it.

The secret service had them shut it down 'cause Bush was in London…

On the news (I believe Global TV) they said it was a fire somewhere around Lawrence.

Couldn’t be a fire that Lawrence because I had to get off that Lawrence station to take the shuttle bus. I didn’t see any fire, firetrucks or firepeople there.
