Toy experts: A Combex (England) squeaky squirrel?

A friend recently gave me a bunch of old toys for my toddler to play with. Among the more recent stuff there was a pink, squeaking rubber squirrel donning a yellow hat and coat that had an ancient look and feel. For further proof the bottom stamp proudly states: Made in England - when was the last time cheap rubber toys were produced in England instead of the Far East?

The bottom stamp in whole:

The friend the squirrel came from was born in the late 50’s himself - I suspect the toy might be equally old. I’d be interested to find if this is so, and if there’s a market for British Combex rubber toys out there. Any help, hints or anecdotes are all welcome.
