I bought a box of plastic toys at a flea market last week, and among them was this pink rubber toy truck. It appears to be from the 1950’s, it’s a little over five inches long, and it has yellow tires with spokes molded in.
The link will bring you to a bunch of photos I took of the truck along with a description.
I can’t seem to find it in any of the toy collector’s guides that I have or that I can thumb through at the local Barnes & Noble. Anyone know anything about it?
I was born in 1959, and had toys very similar to this truck when I was a small child. I remmember a red Buick sedan, and there were a couple of others. This truck may well have been one of the treasures in that “Big Box of Cars” my mom finally gave away when my brother (born in 1965) finally stopped playing with toys. Of course, the vehicles all had plenty of wear and tear, but I’d like to think that somewhere there’s a little (or not-so-little) kid still getting a kick out of the metal DeSoto convertible with the huge tail fins, the plastic Goggomobil, and the rest of the fleet…
Hey! I’ve got some of their toys! I’ve got a dump truck which is in two pieces (it came that way), and has a longer bed than the one you’ve got pictured, a 50s Ranchero, a motorcycle cop, and some kind of sports car that looks like it might be a Volvo. The cab on the dump truck is nearly identical to the one you’ve got (the driver and passenger are identical).
Looks like the same one. Thanks, Sharky. I didn’t know about the Atlanta Antique Gallery site before, but I’m going to add it to my reference bookmarks now.
