TPUSA Halftime show featuring Kid Rock

Doesn’t every big live televised event have a multi-second delay? Thats how they always bleep people during acceptance speeches.

I’m not sure, but as I noted, it has been the norm for Super Bowl halftime shows for 20+ years.

I guess my point is just that they’ll probably only tune in for that one short bit. And the channel itself is not very big. So I doubt they make that much money. Just maybe more than they normally would.

But they’d need commercials during the show itself, since otherwise people would be watching the SuperBowl commercials, I’d expect.

But, far more visibility – and certainly far more PR exposure – than that channel normally receives. Which they could, potentially, leverage into more viewership going forward.

Someone may have the downstairs tv on. If so, I may glance. As for the halftime show, will it be shocking or meh?
I may go on youtube and watch Doenut Factory.

Any artist whose first major work came out after I turned 40 aren’t classic to me.

Everything is classic to some one.

I pretend the whole universe ain’t about me. A bunch. So I don’t tell others what’s their favorite. That’s them.

Please every one tune in just long enough the veiwership numbers are counted(not sure how long that is)

But the massive numbers will thoroughly piss off Trump.

This is the thing, Bad Bunny is Bad Bunny. Probably not my cuppa tea. But I don’t havta be into him. The NFL made a choice. And Trump lost his ketchup.

Bad Bunny is now a household name. He actually should say “thank you Mr. Trump.” Look whose now bigger than Taylor Swift?*

*Guess

That’s not how that works.

Same. So I checked out a few bits on Youtube, and Bad Bunny’s stuff is interesting, but not something I’ll particularly seek out more of, though that’s mostly because I’m an old fart and stuck in my ways… He seems like a pretty decent guy - head and shoulders above the alternative! I’ve got no use for sportsball, so I’m gonna curl up with the cats and a good book.

Exactly. Unless you/your household is actually a member of the Nielsen panel, your viewing has no impact on their ratings.

I recall specifically last year’s show, but I think it’s pretty standard of the last few years, of filling out the entire field with some sort of to-do … dancers, sign spinners, ventriloquists, what the fuck ever. That’s what irritates me the most. That grand spectacle of hundreds of people doing the same thing with big smiles plastered on their faces. May as well be Up With People.

But, seriously, I’d rather get a show like Prince’s where it was basically no different from a concert but with a few Big Stadium Effects thrown in. If Bad Bunny came out on a stage with a band and just sang and played to the audience (fine, even if the fill the field to do it) I’d be more interested. But I have the feeling there will be at least one Oooooh moment that may just as well be in a Cirque de Soleil show.

Maybe I’m wrong.

Irrelevant trivia: I once randomly got a recruitment letter (with a couple of dollars in it) from Neilson back when it was diaries you filled out. I considered doing it but in the end didn’t want the hassle.

They are already having problems ahead of the event.

Maybe not Nielsen, but what about all of us that are streaming? I’m watching it (until the halftime show) on Peacock. I’m assuming they, and anywhere else it’s streaming, can see how many devices are streaming it in real time, including how many people stop streaming it when the halftime show is on then come back. If anyone is streaming both shows, it’ll be even easier to see how many people switched from one to the other and back.
Is the TPUSA show on any actual broadcast or cable channels?

That should be being tabulated, by the streaming companies, but AIUI, it does not get factored into the overall traditional Nielsen ratings.

Given the number of people who watch on streaming services, the Nielsen numbers based on their people meters are increasingly irrelevant.

You’re not wrong, but it’s still what gets the publicity, and still what the dude in the White House obsesses about.

Also, AIUI, there are no unified, comprehensive, third-party ratings for streaming services, the way there is for TV and terrestrial radio through Nielsen. Most streaming services don’t publicly share ratings for individual programs, and those that do don’t necessarily use measures which are consistent.

But I wasn’t.

Anyone watch that shit?

I ended up watching the bad bunny super bowl halftime show and was traumatized and scandalized by the thought of people speaking Spanish and brown people having a good time and living in harmony.

Watching Puppy Bowl. They just introduced a puppy named Chappell Bone.
