You only need to see what happened to Jodie Foster’s film “The Beaver” with Mel Gibson (raked in less than $1 million total boxoffice) to see how one bigoted, homophobic asshole can ruin an entire production.

 At least it only cost 19M to make.
It’s odd that such an economic bomb still got a 7 star score on IMDB, and 65% on Rotten Tomatoes.
In the weeks leading up to the premiere of The Beaver, Jodie Foster defended Mel Gibson’s character in several various interviews, saying he was one of the best-hearted persons that she has ever known, that his infamous racist comments were all taken out of context and that in general, good ol’ Mel was a misunderstood, much-persecuted Saint Among The Living, (Jodie might have also mentioned that his Russian girlfriend can’t take a fucking punch, that whiny, crybaby bitch) and overall, he has been vilified for absolutely no reason at all.
I wonder if she will still be singing His praises now that she doesn’t have a financial interest in the public overlooking the violent, unbalanced, savagely racist piece of shit Mel Gibson so clearly is?
But I think that is the key. By all accounts the joke didn’t bomb. It worked as applied to every peculiar audience. It drew laughs and even pissed a few people off, It was successful beyond even Tracy’s reckoning and has become infamous.
But you see, that’s not true. You are absolutely wrong… that was the punchline and it got laughs… I have seen Tracy’s act and the only way you can take that is that Morgan was making absurdist, hyperbolic, unrealistic, threats of stabbin’ his son. It wasn’ t anymore of a real threat than Cosby’s Mother.
We’ve argued about this before but I’m just going to point out, again, that Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson have been friends for decades. If she says he’s a good guy, I’m going to believe that she honestly thinks that.
No argument that they are actually friends, and it’s totally admirable for someone to stick up for their posse when they are in trouble (I am being 100% sincere here; I actually really admire those who don’t simply cut and run when a friend screws up once or twice) but my golly, hasn’t good ol’ Mel Gibson shown his True Colors WAY TOO FUCKING MANY TIMES for us to have ANY sympathy for him and his Neo-Nazi leanings? (“Jews have started all of the world’s wars”, “I hope you are raped by a pack of wilde niggers”, “You are raising your son to be a cocksucking faggot”, EACH OF WHICH were totally separate incidences, and that doesn’t even include mentioning the cheating on his wife of 30+ years with a Russian whore, then having a kid with her, then getting fucked up on Patron Silver and beating her up, ALL WHILE TRUMPETING TO THE WORLD his status as an Upstanding, Righteous Christian Gentleman and a foot-soldier in the Alcoholics Anonymous Vanguard).
I guess Jodie Foster can continue to say, with a straight face, that Mel Gibson is simply a victim of Hollywood’s PC police run amok, at least when she has a financial interest in his public reputation and popular acceptance at stake…
Let’s see how vigorously she defends her bigoted, violent, hypocritical, self-righteous, shitt-house crazy, apparently hate-filled friend in the future, eh?
I have known some really Cockpussyicking assholes to manipulate the essence of stories for their own political, status, or crooked means. Smacktalkin’ everone to build themselves up… Money and powerbroking to be mad.
Is this what it has come down to? The PCPolice has nothing better to do? They are compelled to come down hard on a lisping, effeminate, black, retarded comedian? The irony would be ironic, if the CSI PC unit would let people laugh instead of fucking being a giant Monolithic soulless Phallus.
No. No… I am sorry, Tracy is not effeminate, he is more effete’ if we are interpreting definitions literally. Certainly not a masculine black man. A little insecure with some ADHD and effete’ characteristics.
The effete might be the feminine touch of some strong Black females… a little carryover, and then his AIDS Daddy. I’d feel as stifled and funny as him, too.
