I would like to create CD archives of some interviews I taped on microcassette. I have an eMachine something-or-other with a CD burner. Any suggestions on how to do this, other than my current method of playing the recorder into my monitor’s built-in mic and using the Sound Recorder application that comes with Windows XP?
Aw, heck, wrong forum. Ever since I became a Guest I’ve been posting like a newbie. Sorry.
I’ve taped stuff off of a regular cassette from my portable stereo to my laptop. I just bought a cord with two male ends, and plugged one end into the stereo’s headphone jack and the other into the laptop’s microphone jack. I’m not sure what program I used to record the sound, but I just hit the program’s record button, then pressed play on my stereo. I used another program to cut the sound files into individual tracks. Then I burned the tracks onto CD. (I did have to fiddle with the volume input settings on the laptop to make sure the files sounded as loud as regular CD tracks at the same volume.)
Pretty simple.
Anyhoo…
