Trapped in Phoenix or I'm never getting out of here...

Whenever I travel by air it seem that some crap always happens.

I have been down in Phoenix on business all week. I flew out of Las Vegas on Monday, took nearly an hour to check my bag and get throught security WTF??? Must have been all the holdouts from the weekend waiting til Monday to fly out and then the business travelers. I Get to the gate, have about 40 minutes before they were going to board. I wander off to have a cig then come back, still waiting to board. We get boarded in a timely matter, so I think okay, so far just the crappy wait to get here. NOT, no, they hold the flight for 45 minues to wait for passengers from another flight. Th flight to Phoenix is only 45 minues. PUT THE FUCKERS ON THE NEXT FLIGHT!!! There is only like 60 flights a day to Phoenix. I was on the first flight out, come on. So I get to Phoenix late, get lost going to our office here, and missed a meeting.

So Thursday, there is the deal with the assholes plotting to blow up transatlantic airliners. Fine, more headaches for traveling. I accept it but it still  .

I called the airline this morning and they were advising arriving 3 hours prior to departure. So today I make sure I get my rental car back and take the shuttle to Sky Harbor airport. Get to baggage check, took less than 10 minues. Go up to security. WTF, the line has like 10 people in it??? So that took less than 15 minurtes. I look at the time… just after noon. My flight leaves at three.

So I go to the bar in the C terminal, order some lunch and a cocktail, smoke some cigs and kill about 2 hours. I decided to wander over to my gate. All is well. I have about 45 minutes, so I decide to hook up to the wifi available and kill some more time.

Then my phone rings, Mr Geek calls me and tells me that the flight is delayed to 330. OK fine an extra half an hour. I figure I can deal with that. We chat for a few minutes. I didn’t even get my phone back in my purse before he called me back to tell me that the delay was extended… to 430 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH.

By the time I get home, I could have driven back to las Vegas from Phoenix.

FUCK FUCK FUCK… I hate air travel. Fucking Terrorists!

I guess I will be going back to the bar and spend more money :frowning:

Resolved: Terrorists are ruining it for the rest of us.

When I saw this thread I thought it was going to be about Phoenix itself and not air travel.

Anyway, I’m sorry to hear that your flight was delayed.

I’m even sorrier to hear that you were delayed in Phoenix.

If I never return to that city again in my life it will be too soon.

Deep breaths.

I’m never flying again until they start instituting rational safety procedures.

Especially on shorter routes. For instance, I don’t think it’s ever occured to me to fly from Albuquerque to Denver and Phoenix to Las Vegas is an even shorter drive by distance, although my routefinder is saying it’s about the same time, which I’m not sure I believe.

It’s only about 2.5 - 3 hours by Cessna.

I consider anything within 500 miles “easy driving distance.” We drive from SoCal to the Bay Area, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque and the like. I’d start thinking otherwise about Dallas or so.

Amtrack is looking better and better these days.

Weird. My aunt and uncle flew out of PHX yesterday around 11 AM. Everything was on time.

At least you’re not stuck in Cleveland with my aunt and uncle from Phoenix  ::shudder::

I finally arrived home, 2.5 hours later than expected.

Stupid trip. I am glad it is over and I am home now.
