Travelogue -- a New World MMP

Yes, they are beautiful, even more so on paper than in that picture. All the colors have mica in them so they all have a faintly glittery and shimmery look. And depending on how much color you add vs. water, the effects can be amazingly different with the same color.

There’s lots of coloring material for adults, even for free to print out on the internet. Just don’t google adult coloring books or you’ll get something entirely different.
::listening for the rustling of guys while they do what I just said not to do:::

For me, even crayons are challenging. I’m art challenged. Even my stick figures don’t look like people. :stuck_out_tongue:

You see? This is what happens when one leaves the MMP for too long. They get flabby. And things happen to other body parts as well. (I’ll let you find this out on your own, Lunch) But let that be a lesson to the rest of you Mumpers. If you leave the Mump for too long, some of your body parts get flabby and some might even fall off.

gt, I’m with LOUNE. I’m green with envy about your Chicago dope-fest. It sounds so fun. And yes it is that far from the west coast. I hope you all have a fabulous time though. I’ll say this early so there’s no mix-up. Don’t forget to take pictures with more than one Doper in the picture and preferably in front of something that looks like you were really in Chicago. Some of us have to live vicariously.
**
MBG**, condolences on the family visits at the inconvenient times.

rosie, I’m with you about the dog theory.
Today I bring pie to the Mump. I was supposed to go to a party tonight for which I purchased a pie. About a minute before I was leaving, I went to go check the directions and found out that the party is for tomorrow. And since I’m busy tomorrow, y’all can have a Marie Callender’s apple pie because I bought one for myself already.

With all this talk about food by Mamatigs and swampy, I’m getting hungry. So I’m off to dinner. Your dinners sound yummy, btw.

Mmmmm, apple pie.

That’s what I forgot, Heff&Roo: those colors are beautiful. I’m not terribly artistic either (sometimes I can fake it, though). Gotta think of something to use colors like that for…

Oh…and…when I win the lottery, we’ll be having a major MMPFest. Can someone work on that for me ? (The winning, not the fest.)

Second load of laundry is in the washer, first load in the dryer, and I spent an hour or so trimming the latest ceramic pieces. I’m too tired to do any decorating, so I wrapped them all up to keep moist, and I’ll deal with that another day. And after a couple more loads of laundry, I’ll break out the ironing board and commence to de-wrinkling stuff.

I’m hoping to stay up for at least 6 more hours - I’d love to make it to 3:30 or 4, at which point I’ll pop a melatonin and crash. I am not looking forward to tomorrow night. whine whine whine

I like dogs of all sizes, but I don’t like noisy or nasty dogs of any type. Scruffy’s walking a fine line - she gets all yappy when she wants to go out. That in itself is good, but for some reason, in the evening, she demands to go out at least half a dozen times. She pees or poos each time, but still. But we’ve decided when these two go to their doggy rewards, we’re not going to have a dog again until we quit boating. I wouldn’t mind having more cats, tho. Miss Brandy would mind that a lot, so we won’t inflict more kitties on her till my darling daughter brings her feline to live with us.

I’m faced with a task that I hate. I need to find a new doctor. Dr. S, who I loved to pieces, up and retired. I want to get a doctor in my county, and I’m hoping to find one for whom English is a first language. When I first got here, I saw one who was (I think) Indian. Not only did he have a very thick accent (I had to ask him to repeat everything he said, and I’m usually pretty good with accents), but he acted as if he was afraid to be physically close to me. He literally used his stethoscope at arm’s length. So I found Dr. S and was happy for almost 3 years. Then he quit. Fooey!

The other problem I face is finding a physician who will take my insurance who’s taking on new patients. So I guess when I wake up on Monday, I’ll make a few phone calls. Oh how I hate doctor shopping.

Oh, speaking of our future new deck (as I was some posts ago) ours will be big enough for a hot tub. Also strong enough for a hot tub. So YAY!

Why is the clock moving so slow…?

Damn, now I wanna color.

And that damned yapyap pest is out again (it has stopped raining). It’s the pitch of the bark-yipyipyip. High and shrill. I so want to kick him into the middle of next week. I am not usually violent, but other than the dog, all that can be heard outside are the crickets. It’d be lovely but for the noise pollution canine.

I do like dogs-just not lil yappy ones.

Yes. Yappy dogs like that need to be indoors. With windows closed.

I have spoken.

I went to an estate auction this morning (not Libby’s estate). I bought a set of raspberry glassware that looks wonderful on the shelves in the dining room, two needlepoint pillows and a beautiful peacock porcelain umbrella holder. It was interesting - there were some great deals, I wish I had more money to spend! Some guy got a great deal on a 1987 Cadillac; it runs great and the leather upholstery looks like no one has ever sat on it - the guy paid $650 for it. Lots of beautiful furniture and decorative stuff. It was fun.

Gotta go take some beads out of the oven - later, ya’ll!

In New Orleans, the folks a few houses down the street had six – count 'em, SIX – bassett hounds. Fortunately, the dogs spent most of the time at their place in the country. But when they were in town, and all were out in the back yard and baying at once (you can’t call it barking with bassetts!), the noise was truly amazing. If it had happened often, I suspect the whole neighborhood would have arisen en masse and dealt with them. Fortunately, it was rare enough to still be funny.

Oh, the people who parked in front of my mailbox today? Also left their dog in the car. A fairly sizeable dog with a big, deep bark. With the windows open a few inches, so my dogs, in the house with the windows also open, could smell it. The barking from both directions was seriously obnoxious, till I got back in the house and got my two guys to be quiet. We don’t let ours bark endless indoors or outside. It’s one of my major dog peeves, unchecked barking.

Although, with annoying dogs that bark a lot, sometimes it’s fun to walk by them and set them off by barking back at them – I’m evil that way!

I spent today lifting heavy crap, driving a moving truck (HATE IT!), and doing all of this in the rain! And it’s not even half done. Later tonight I have to take apart my computer equipment for the full move tomorrow and then I’m incommunicado until Monday …

Sounds like everyone else is having a more fun day than I did

Friday: A crazy lady walks into the store, wants money back for something she didn’t buy. There was much screaming, threats were issued and the police called.
Saturday: Night cashier calls in. I call in the new lady, who freaks out and leaves half way through her shift.
Sunday:?
At least there is beer. And dog hornk.

I would never own a dog that I could crush with my own skull.

Time check. It’s midnight. **FCD ** just hit the sheets. I pulled a bunch of my blouses out of the closet so I’ll start ironing when the next load come out of the washer. The question is - can I make it for 3 or 4 more hours??

Have I mentioned how much I hate night shift?

Time to check the dryer. I’ll keep you apprised of my progress ironing. No, really, it’s not a problem…

<yawn>

Actually, the way I’m using them is not what most (almost all) people use them for. They’re marketed to people who do rubber stamps, so they can be used on rubber stamps. They’re OK with that. But I’ve used them with brass stencils and plastic stencils with fabulous results. And their website says that you can use them on wood, rocks or eggs. Everyone needs watercolored easter eggs, right? Or watercolored rocks leading up to the house. Or shiny stenciled walls.

(and no, I’m not getting commissions on them. I’m just a very big fan. For a while, I used to play with them every night. . .sometimes just to look at the pretty colors.)

But think of it this way – you get to be part of the late-nighters here. You get to see Haze, Mamatigs, Dotty and Lunch every day live and swampy sometimes. Who wouldn’t want that?! So where has the night crew been lately?!

I wonder if your dreams will be more or less wild on your changed sleeping schedule.
Speaking of late nights, it’s time for me to head off to bed. So I’ll miss the party. Have a good one everyone!
(and the usual good mornings to Dotty and Lunch!)
ETA: (oh, and Mork, I know you don’t normally post on the weekends, but I hope your tooth pain is subsided or eliminated)

Hey, FCD – still up? Is this helping?

**Roo **-- good night to you!

Everybody else – WTF are you doing up so early Sunday morning anyway?

That is all. This be a drive-by. On my way out to Reserve Duty once again… so offline until later.

I’ve ironed 8 shirts so far. I’ve got at least that many more to go, plus 3 pairs of pants. And at least 2 more hours to go. I have one more load to toss in the washer, then the dryer. That’ll get me close to the 2 hours.

My doggies and kitty are confused. They don’t know why I’m still up. Poor critters.

Poor me.

<yawn>

That’s it. Laundry is done, and I quit ironing when I knew I was going to hurt myself or the clothes. I’m about to pop a melatonin and crawl into bed. So kindly keep it down…

ZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Up and off to work.

SCL, Here is a nifty cartoon today.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Good Night FCM!

I’m up and caffienatin’. Been up about an hour. I need to be up earlier than that tomorrow. Dang this changin’ sleep schedules. Oh well, if’n I don’t nap today then I can get to bed earlier and sleep. Course I can also take a sleepy pill if’n I feel I need to take one. Might have to do that tonight.

I get to ush at church this mornin’. After that we’re goin’ out for Chinese vittles at the good place. YUM! There’s a chance of tstorms this afternoon which would put my efforts to not nap to the test. I’m hopin’ to get in some quality pool time cause it’s at least not near as hot as it has been the past couple weeks. Temps only in the mid 90s Amurrkin!

BioTigs those that have been bitten by JoeDawg are the ones who dared to touch his toys and his bed while he was lookin’. He’s very possessive about his stuff. I’ve never done that, even though now, he’ll let me move his bed. Hence, I’ve never been bitten. The bites are more like little nips even though chee-hoo-ah-hoo-ahs can put the hurt on with a bite. Sometimes I get JoeDawg all riled up whilst playin’ with him and he’ll bare his teeth at me. So funny! Makes his little haid look like he’s all teeth!

Ok, off to get some more caffiene and then purtify for ushin’.

Later Y’all!

I’m up and caffeinating as well; my daughter and I are going to a farmer’s market this morning. I’m hoping to get some fresh fruits and veggies (peaches, heirloom 'maters, squash) and a bit of exercise as well. I’ve been meaning to get to the farmer’s market all these many past weekends, but had to be prodded by some really nasty peaches I got at the local supermarket this week. I should have known better - they didn’t have that good, peachy aroma - but they looked fairly decent and weren’t all hard. They were so mealy that they were completely inedible!

Swampy, I’ll just bet that JoeDawg is gonna be happy to see you! Especially if you bring him one of those treats I know you keep at home for when he’s visitin’. My Dad has a Boston terrier (female) and she is the most possessive dog - with him! She does NOT like his attention to be distracted from her! She is a very loving dog, though; she’d probably lick an intruder to death before she’d bite. Unless they tried to do something to my Dad, that is!! My “step” sister, I guess. (FTR, I don’t have any sisters IRL; just brothers. LOL)

Looks to be another nice day here - not as beautiful as yesterday, but still cooler with temps in the 80s and we might get some more much needed rain later today. Hope everyone enjoys the remainder of their weekend.

Glad to see you made it to your goal bedtime, FCM.

Stencils sound pretty, Heff. Maybe I’ll find something to use them for in that direction. What have you stenciled? Hmmm.

if2x, at least it’s not quite as hot as it’s been lately. I’ve moved (and helped people move) in really hot and humid weather. That was the worst. Actually the worst was when it was incredibly hot, then rained. We thought it would cool things off. Instead, it made it all the more humid. That was more than 20 years ago and still makes me cringe.

Good morning everyone!! I’m up and breakfasting. Even slept a reasonable number of hours and everything.

Off to do something productive before going off to church and then to meet up with brother, niece and nephew.

GT

I woke up, I had coffee, I had cereal and now I wait.

I wait for a New Beer Fridge!!! (envy me)

The beer fridge in the garage crapped out this week finally. It came with Wife when we met, and she says it was at least 10 years old then, which puts it at about 30-35 years old, give or take.

I caught it in time to not have the meat in the freezer be affected and there wasn’t much beer or pop or stuff in it at the time so it’s no major loss. We ran to Sears this week - because they deliver and haul away for free, PLUS they deliver on Sunday morning, so that’s all good.

It is going to be a little weird to have a newer fridge in the garage than the one in the house, but it DOES have a much higher purpose after all.

So you’re not going to move the house fridge to the garage and put the new one in the house, MBG? I guess it depends on space and decor and all.

Glad you managed to stay up late enough, Moooom. So how often do you have to do this night shift thing, anyway? I can’t remember you doing it before. I hate schedule shifts, too, though – in my case the hideous schedule is having to get up early like you do normally. Fortunately, I’ve managed to get my life set up well enough that I don’t have to do that very often any more!

I’m really, really glad your reserve duty keeps you away from the front lines, Special One. It’s bad enough worrying about things heating up in your part of the world in general, but to have an imaginary friend in the thick of things? Would be really scary. So good on yer for staying out of the line of fire!

You know, we’re practically next-door neighbors, Dope-wise, herbs. I’m just the next county over, after all. We really should get together one of these days. It would be nice to meet you eventually!

It’s cool and overcast here today, and should stay nice, high under 80°. Papa Tigs took the dogs out to the beach as soon as the park opened eeeearly this morning, and since they were the only ones there, there was no distraction for them so he wore them out but good. Apparently well enough that on the way back up to the car, they were walking so quietly and calmly that they walked within 30 feet of a deer bedded down in the woods nearby before it noticed them and ran off. Tired dogs are happy dogs, so I guess they are extra-happy now.

Off to caffeinate some more.
