Travels with a Toddler – an Adventurous MMP

: trudges off to work :

Ditto. Even worse, I went to the Y this morning; only the second time since roughly Halloween. My favorite exercise bike kicked my ass today…

Blurf.

As expected, the roads are sheets of ice. I go to work at noon.

Time to thesisize.

You’d just better be thesisizing, Missy. We’re watching!! Caught up on Aunt Ryl last night. Hee. You’ve gotta wonder what people are thinking when they send letters. Perhaps “Ooooh, I do hope that Agony Aunt Ryl sees this and mocks me!”

Sorry about your job, Taters. Hope something happens to make things better.

Hope the dizzies pass soon, Nava.

I’m off to Barnes & Noble to look for a couple of newspapers and look at some knitting books.

Back after a bit.

GT

Drive-by.

Hugs to everyone that needs them (which seems to be just about everybody! :()

Take some and pass them on…

This technically-American got a bit teary-eyed watching President Obama’s inauguration yesterday (at the prime-time hour of 7 PM – the “Jewish-Israeli Conspiracy” has even managed to make you have the inauguration at a time that’s convenient for us to watch on TV! :stuck_out_tongue: :D))

Vrooooommmm!!

Good morning!

::vroooom::

Mornin’.

Grandpa is still in the hospital and not doing well. They can’t get his heart rhythm fixed, even with a pacemaker/ICD, but then he had a pacemaker before and was in V-tach still. This seems to be one of the lesser concerns now. As of Monday, he’s having a lot of trouble with kidney function, because they aren’t. The current theory is that his kidney’s can’t process the dye used in the heart tests. They’re talking about a session or two of dialysis to clear the dye out of his system, and hoping that’s all it is. Has anyone ever heard about someone having only one or two dialysis sessions? I thought that once someone went on dialysis, that was it–they would always be on dialysis unless they had a transplant. He’s also having a lot of trouble breathing and is on oxygen. He is getting short of breath with just a few steps without it. Hopefully I’ll know more later today.

All of you North Carolinians with your snow, I do not envy you the idiots that don’t know how to handle it… Oh, and I’ll take your two inches if you’ll take my argleblargle inches. Deal?

Ummm…there was stuff that I wanted to comment on, but I finished reading and started writing an hour ago, so I don’t really remember any more. Sorry.

{{{{{mousie}}}}}

I’m 99% done with my introduction revision. Like a twit, I forgot to write down the Great Revelation about the last comment my director wrote on the first draft and now I have to wait for Complicated Roommate (my cultural source) to email me back with what he remembers of that conversation. Write :smack: things :smack: down :smack:!

You Northern People will be proud of me: I went out a little while ago with a broom and swept the snow off my car. Even the top (as much as I could get). It’s a powdery snow that should blow off easily, but I don’t want to be that guy with the cloud of snow blowing merrily off the car because s/he was too lazy to brush off more than the windshield. I couldn’t have cleaned off the windshield without the broom because the wipers are frozen anyway.

We watched the inauguration at work too, and while I really enjoyed it and am hopeful about the future, like FCM, I’m betting yesterday will be Obama’s best day as president. Everyone likes him right now. Because he hasn’t done anything yet. Starting today he’s going to start the real work and start pissing people off. I certainly don’t envy him his job. But at least for a day it seemed like there was a lot of happiness and hope.

{{{mousie & family}}}

I’ll leave the lemon meringue for everyone else. Sorry, just not my cuppa.

Sorry for everyone who had a bad day at work yesterday.

I took an Indian cooking class with a couple coworkers at a community center last night. It was pretty good, although there was a lot of waiting time. But I’ve got the leftovers for lunch so it’s all good.

Monday and yesterday were really busy at work. So now since today’s less busy my motivation’s pretty much gone. Oh well.

There’s gonna be some flahr wiltin around the Anachi hacienda after tomorrow. Down to freezing this morning and prolly below tomorrow. :frowning:

rigs, rudeness is the little person’s imitation of power. Ef her.

bobbio, it seems to me that V-wife and the shelter operator moved within legal constraints. Is there any proof that the former owner acted speedily to locate his “lost” dog?

Good on the electrical fix, gotti. That stuff always scares me.

mousey, good vibes going out to gramps.

I watched the swearing in and speech yesterday, too. I pray for his success. We need a leader to be proud of.

Back to billing hell.

Tupug

Hmmm… You’d push my buttons for a pie?

All I needed to do to get the power back on was push the “RESET” button on the GFI. DH protested and said “I **did **that!”

**gotti–**Suuuuuuure he did!

Bobbio, your day gets some sympathy blurfs from me. Whoa…

Sorry to be so mundane but a slutty breakfast is one which is absolutely NOT on the menu, calorie-wise, for someone who’s on a weight loss regimen! Chicken fried steak, gravy, hashbrowns, eggs and toast do not appear in my list of healthy, approved foods right now–but hell, it was a celebration. Some people get drunk, I carbo-load!

I’m on hold with the unemployment department–apparently they screwed something ELSE up and my claim for the week was denied. I hate bureaucracy, I really and truly do…

Good healing thoughts for Grandpa, mousie–getting old kinda sucks…

Good snarx there, Spaz!

Since we’re handing out pie, I really prefer key lime over lemon meringue. Since virtual pie is virtually virtuous I can eat all the imaginary pie I like!

It’s a good thing I’m not “officially” on the schedule for today. I went out a little while ago to see if I could get to work. Nope. The safest way to town had a wreck at the end of the road. Probably some idiot who thought they could go 55 on an icy, unplowed, unsalted road. When I came home I grabbed the box of kosher salt and dusted the driveway with it. Dusted the Adopted Parents driveway too, so they don’t have to worry about slips when they get home.

Afternoon!

:Drives by:

Can I get a slutty breakfast door-to-door, like doggio’s hookers?

Drive by! Work is nutty… all day meetings with little to no internet access, and a 2-hr-each-way-commute. Oy.

Beautiful pix, Dotty. I’m insanely jealous of all the beautiful and exotic locations you got to visit… especially since I haven’t gone anywhere nearly as beautiful or exotic in quite a while.

Please dole out hugs, kisses, yays and boos as appropriate.

vrooooooooooooooooooooooooooom

gotti I’d come push your buttons just cause… Lemon meringue pie afterwards would be nice though

SmartiePants slutty brunch souns nummy! Throw in a bloody mary or three and it’d be a drunken slutty brunch.

Tomorrow is my Firday. WOOHOO!!!

I’m glad we have a new president. He needs our thoughts and prayers.

Sketties was (were?) good!

In a bit we’s gone hottub for a bit cause it’s cold outside and the hottub is toasty sweaty warm. Thus, a cold beerverage or two and some hottub time are a good combo. Appreciation to follow.

Later Y’all!

Well, my class is going to be a real challenge - the teacher has been at this for over 20 years, and she’s really into the sculpture aspect of ceramics. That’s good for me - I wanted to try more sculpture-ish stuff. On the other hand, she’s got pretty high standards, so there’s going to be some serious work involved.

There are 3 of us intermediate students and 15 beginners, and we’re expected to help them, which adds to the workload. But still, I expect I’ll learn a lot. So yay!

Finally got the official word of what team I’m now part of, and I talked with the team lead about what I’ll be doing. She’s going to see about getting me scheduled for the rest of my training. And we’re supposed to *finally *move desks next week. Theoretically.

Other than that, it’s cold, and I’m tired. Is it Firday yet??

blurf

sorry I’ve been absent - I spent the weekend ingesting tylenol and laying on the heating pad (my back was hurting big time)

I got a call from these folks today. Out of the blue. No idea how they got my name - a few others on my team also got that call. The guy offered me about the same thing I’m making now (a little more) but the job was in NYC. They couldn’t pay me enough to deal with that commute. - Well, maybe a high six figure salary and door to door service (preferably involving a helicotper - I really hate traffic, moreso when I’m a passenger) would entice me, but very little else.

that’s all I got - back to blurf-dom
(I don’t celebrate Christmas, and did nothing for New Year’s except eat, watch TV, and play with Smokey - I need a life)

Yes. They will insert a temporary dialysis access (this requires a surgical consent, but can be done at the bedside) and then he will get dialysis. Post-dialysis (which lasts for about 4-5 hours, total time), he will be both weak and tired (and maybe hungry). He will feel better the next day (hopefully). They will draw more blood to monitor his kidney function pre and post dialysis (called HD for short–hemodialysis).

Am making dinner. Back from Target for Bday gifts for #2 son’s party life. Dread tomorrow AND Friday, but will love Saturday. Better day at work today–sorry to leave it. :frowning: I think I chose right to be a librarian–I really like it.
