Travels with a Toddler – an Adventurous MMP

I made the greatest sandwich in the world for dinner tonight. I bear the recipe for you to try:

Take a flour tortilla (aka The World’s Greatest Bread). Spread with a thinnish layer of refried beans. Add some finely chopped avocado. Top with sprouts. Top with shredded lettuce. Top with shredded cheese. Garnish with salsa. Top with second flour tortilla. Put in microwave and nuke for fifteen seconds to slightly melt the cheese. Fold up sandwich and enjoy.

I’ll second that.

Lupper–a very late lunch/early supper–today was Madras coconut chicken curry with pea pods, celery, red peppers, and onions over rice. There’s still another chicken breast in the fridge, so I’ll use it and the leftover rice tomorrow in Southwestern chicken and corn :smack: Chowder. Of course as I type this, I realize I’ve forgot to get corn. :smack: Back to the store tomorrow! Oh well, I can do a recycle run while I’m at it since the bins are at the far end of the store lot.

Mr. J mentioned he’s been given a list of shots he needs to get, such as hepatitis. I predict a cranky man in the house next week.

Must say 'night all. I’m off to catch the news.

Why does Mr. J need shots? Is he traveling somewhere or does he have a new job that I’ve forgotten about?

I’ve added your sandwich to the blog, Spaz. I love just about anything with avocado.

Tired. Got almost nothing done except knitting today. Which I decided is fine, because I was apparently very much in need of knitting therapy.

I have to go to work tomorrow. Why didn’t I take the whole week off? Oh, yeah, because I wanted to survive.

Sleepy. Watched a bunch of Angel episodes while knitting. Now I’ve switched over to Bones. I think I’m going to fall asleep any minute now. I actually slept in this morning (woke up shortly before 8). Maybe I’ll get enough sleep tonight that I’ll actually be semi-refreshed in the morning…

Is it Firday yet?

Can’t believe it’s Wednesday and the week is half over. I had a friend who was interviewed, on the mall, after the inauguration! Whee, she looks great too. :stuck_out_tongue: (She lives in Newark DE and was interviewed on the 11 PM newscast last night on Action News, channel 6 in Philly, btw.) I had a feeling she’d come for the inauguration and she did. So happy! No picture of the new President up at work yet, though! What’s up with that?! Heh.

We had sketties and meatballs tonight too, Swampy, and they/it was good!

And Rosie, my mind is in the gutter … because I got very strange images of you playing with Smokey! I need a brain bleach, please, I guess.

Welp, let me toddle off to make ready to watch Top Chef. Nighty!

I finally uploaded to mi camera the pics from The Niece’s baptism. Most of them aren’t good, but I had to share this one.

Her dad calls her Paula Puñoprieto Terremoto, Paula Tighfist Earthquake, because if she’s awake she keeps her fists tightly closed (she opens them just enough to grab something if she sees you’re giving it to her to grab, you sort of have to push at the fingers until she gets the message) and in constant movement.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. It’s my Firday. YAY!

Nava niece is a cute lil’ ol’ earthquake!

mousie I’m keepin your grandfather in my thoughts and prayers.

Everybody else, well, hugs, boos, yays, kisses, woofs, trouts…

We’s goin’ out for brekkies. Guess that means I should go purtify.

Later Y’all!

Paula’s a cutie, Nava. I like the picture of your brother and SIL with the kids, too.

I’m awake and don’t feel like going to work, but, as I have to finance the lavish life to which I am accustomed, I guess I’ll go. :stuck_out_tongue: Isn’t there a zillionaire out there somewhere who wants to adopt me?

Off to ingest more caffeine and locate something to eat.

Happy Thursday everyone!!!

This is going to be a weird week. The university reopened today and I only work three hours in the evening tomorrow. Hopefully the roads have de-iced a bit.

Blurf.

Must. Go. Forage.

Carry on.

Hmmm… like mother like son?

(no… wait… that was tissue paper, not kleenex, but I suppose it’s still close enough for teasing)

Blurf x 100. This commute is killing me… though on the bright side, only half a day of meetings today.

I’m caught up. Read everything, retained nothing, please assign yourselves the appropriate response from the following selection:
*Hugs
*Kisses
*Yays
*Boos
*Apathy

Customized mix and match packages are also available upon request, but will require 24 hours advance notice to allow our staff to assemble your customized blend from the various top-of-the-line responses we’ve specially selected for you from the best response providers we could find.

Back later with more content once I’ve had enough coffee to manage coherent thought in non-marketing-speak.

This will not be a good day. I went to forage, and stopped at a men’s room to drain the lizard. My zipper broke.

We converted Mr. Lissar’s Dad to Angel. We left them the first season over Christmas, and they just emailed to say they like it a lot. I don’t know if we can convince them to try Buffy.

Hello, everyone. We’re doing laundry (eternally), going to the library, and cooking today. I did peanut butter muffins yesterday, and I think we’ll have something like bean enchiladas tonight or tomorrow. Not sure what we’ll be up to in the afternoon.

Good morning!

Prayers for mousie’s grandpa.

Ouchie for the hurt back, Rosie! I hope you feel better soon.

Such a cutie, Nava!

Today is Dad’s appointment with the neurologist, and he’s also seeing his regular doctor. Mr Rebo is taking him, then they’re gonna eat lunch at Pier 36 - a really nice seafood place.

I made bbq chicken legs, sausage, NOT salad and beans for dinner - winter is so nice down here. It was about 60° for grilling. Don’t hate me!

Everybody is getting ready for Moving Day around here. Our lease is up, and they’ve built a brand new building. The Big Move is scheduled for Feb 6. However, it sucks to be us. My department is the unloved stepchild, and we’re moving back to the manufacturing facility. On Feb 13. We will be here for a week with no receptionist, no copier, no IT, no HR, no nothing. Maybe one little black and white printer. That’s better than what they had said before, however. We were going to have to move twice! (Once to a temporary location, then to our permanent location.) We still don’t know where our permanent location will be, though.

So my commute will be one hour instead of twenty minutes. I did it before for ten years though - I can suck it up and do it again. I’ve arranged to change my hours to 6:30 to 4:30, which will get me home at the same time, and not upset my dinner routine, so there’s that.

I guess I better go earn my paycheck and work on this god-awful stack-up drawing. It’s so large and sloooooooooooowwwwwwwwww…

Going home this evening to get: laundry, new towel and washcloth, books. Returning Monday afternoon. I scheduled my classes well.

A pox on whomever formatted these documents! Section breaks in the middle of indices…

Happy me-and-swampy’s-Firday, everybody!

I am taking a PTO day tomorrow because my bro, Tom, is coming in to help me buy and set up a new laptop computer with wi-fi. I am hardware challenged so need some expertise. Mr. Anachi is worse than I am. Anyhoo, if I buy one from Best Buy, they’ve got a wireless HP printer/scanner/copier for just $89. Considering the dinosaur I’m currently using at home, this should be a BIG improvement.

We’ve had our second overnight with below freezing temps and last night was several hours. There will be much wilting and browning around Central Flawduh in the coming days. We haven’t had such bad temps since 2001. :frowning:

nava, that is one KEEE-UTE little one!

bobbio, hope you had some spare trousers!

li-li, you did check that peanut butter to make sure it’s not the contaminated one, right?

That’s all I got for now.

Tupug

LiLi, can has PB muffin recipe, kthx?

Also, speaking of recipes, I have a bunch of rapidly-blackening bananas that we bought in an optimistic moment a week ago, and then promptly forgot to eat. I’m pondering 'nana bread, but I’m open to suggestions for new and interesting things to do with my too-ripe-'nanas.

In other news, the cafeteria put my toast and eggs in the same container. The eggs got all crumby, and the toast got all soggy. I am simmering with resentment.

Hope you were able to resolve that zipper issue, Vundie. I had that happen once when I was at work… lucky for me, I was wearing a long top that day (sometimes this being a girl thing pays off).

Mornin’.

It seems that whenever I tell you all about Grandpa, he’s a bit better in the next report I get! Obviously this means that there is healing power in the thoughts and prayer vibes coming out of the MMP. His breathing is a bit better, so he’s using the oxygen less. His kidney function had improved; I don’t know if they’re still planning on dialysis or not… As of last night, they were waiting for one more doctor to sign off on his release. He’s been in the hospital for 12 days (as of yesterday), and Grandma reports that he’s grouchy!
It’s hard to have them get older. I’ve always been pretty lucky, because my parents had me so young, I haven’t had to deal with death much…

Anyway.

Hawkeyeop bought the complete series of Buffy when it was the Gold Box deal on Amazon. We have finished season 1. I haven’t ever seen Angel… Is that Joss Whedon as well?

Thanks for the info Rigs!

Nava niece is adorable.

Sorry for the zipper catastrophe, Bobbio

Good Luck at the Doctor’s office, ReboDad

Cheers for a good and challenging cermics class, Mooom

good vibes for Maus-Gramps
