I did something similar, if dumber. Sent reinforcements to a village I meant to raid then attacked said village.
Basically I wiped out my entire (14) army.
You can recall reinforcements, as I figured out too late. :smack:

I’m getting raided constantly. Apparently my town’s random generation plopped me down right next to a whole bunch of fully developed villages who just constantly raid me. I’ve ended up making a level 7 cranny already just because my town is so war-torn.
How do I get in on the SDMB alliance? I could use a few muscle-bound bouncers to keep people from stealing all my resources over and over and over again.
Send a message in game to Cog. Assuming there are spaces depending on the size of his embassy.
Nevermind, he got it.
Yay, I’m in!
Came out of newbie protection and immediately got hit five times by raiders. Fortunately my cranny is big enough enough to hide all my resources. Mostly because I have very few resources all the time. How big is everyone’s resource field, and how much of a priority should I put on building it up?
Also, I haven’t built any troops yet. The phalanx seem kind of pointless. They’re poor raiders and defense seems rather weak in general in this game. Easier to just hide everything in the cranny.
Having been wiped out, (I hope lots of you got little shipments from me before my marketplace got erased) I’ve started a new city, and have an embassy up.

Happily, my area doesn’t have any gigantic bullies. When I get attacked, it’s a raid, not destruction.
Life has been busy lately, and I don’t think I have the time to keep up with this game, sorry guys. I might try another time on one of the slow paced servers.
Good luck, SDMB Alliance!
Defense is a bad idea in the early game. You just don’t win against the sort of people who view you as a ‘farm’. It’s definitely best to build up your resource fields, get your cranny as high as possible, and make sure your attacking troops are always off on a raid when you’re not on the computer.
By the way, levelling up things evenly is the most cost-effective way of getting resources.
This is rather fun, but I don’t think any of us got off to a good start. We’d all do better once the server resets, me thinks.
Consider this round a learning experience.
I’m going to try it. Ligas Village -121, -117.
Username is Ligas.
I’m afraid I’m getting tired with this game. I’m slowly building up my infrastructure but the constant raids that I am unable to defend against are getting frustrating. Look at this:
This guy has attacked me about a dozen times in the past two days. He only ever got any resources from me once. (I have 5 level 10 Crannys.) I tried putting up some defenders, but 50 Pretorians don’t do much against 1000 attackers.
Still, I figured that he was losing as many troops as me so I was waiting to see what he would do. Well, he just launched a major catapult assault on the town and destroyed most of my buildings.
It’s frustrating that this guy can just pound on me and there isn’t anything I can do about it. From what I can tell on their forums, that’s pretty much par for the course for this game; you either constantly raid everyone around you or are constantly raided yourself. Personally, I don’t need that kind of entertainment.
If there was a way to trash my own colony I’d just do so and abandon it. Can I build a couple of catapults to destroy my own resource fields just to annoy this guy?
Have you tried asking him politely to stop?
Waterloo village in the hizzouse! i’m located at -74,-158. Only one other village near me
I’d love an invite to our League of Knowledge.
Yeah I’ve been raided once by the only other local power. I basically asked them to stop or I’d make my village a resource sinkhole assuming I could ever figure out how to do that.
It worked. I don’t think they thought the village was actively being played and so raided it. People seem to raid until asked not too.
Well, I sent him the slightly snarky message below
I never got a reply from him but the attacks stopped. Maybe he thought I was abandoned? Oh well, we’ll see what happens next.
He could have just been farming you for hero experience. Resources aren’t the only valuable thing in this game.
Also, that message was like putting a giant “kick me” sign on your back. The littlest slight is often cause for catapulting in this game.
I am on server 6 and just discovered this thread. I have gotten up to 631 population and have never lost a single resource, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.
Oh, and to avoid raiding do the following:
Cranny size: Your cranny size should be equal to 1.5 times your warehouse size, so even a Teuton can never take anything. Your warehouse should be about 10 times your highest hourly production so you don’t waste resources overnight.
Never have unattended troops in your village: Send them on raids four or more hours away so it takes eight or so to get back. If you aren’t using them to raid, send them away.
Respond to raids correctly: Message the raider asking him to stop. Be VERY polite and preferably funny. Putting things in the form of a story works well. Use excellent grammar as well. Many people will cata someone just for using 1337 speak with them. Don’t say what you need, as everyone needs the same thing, just ask nicely. Many people make a policy of never raiding those who ask nicely for them to stop.
Good luck everyone!
I’m finishing my third newbie day on the server and will soon be ripe pickings for the nearby NATO alliance. Any chance I (LHOD, town West Dorkness) could get an invite to our alliance?
Edit: I don’t have an embassy yet, I guess, but I should have one soon.
Thanks,
Daniel
Your invite has gone out. It should be waiting for you when your embassy is done.
Sweet–thanks!
Still building up, and waiting in trepidation for the first raid against me. I have no defense at all, except for a level 8 cranny.
