Trek Merchandise?

Not sure if this should go here or in IMHO, but am starting it here, since it is Trek-related. Please move, as appropriate.

Boy there is -a lot- of Trek-related merchandise out there! I must confess, I’ve been secretly wanting to get some of those action figures - for myself. LOL Not that I would be actually -playing- with them, but I’d probably set them up somewhere, on my PC or in my bedroom or somewhere. And there is a plush Porthos that I’ve been coveting too! I’m just not sure where I can get this stuff! :frowning: I’ve seen ST action figures in Toys R Us and probably other toy stores (and maybe even Target, K-Mart?) carry them too, but what about other Trek-related merchandise? Like an Enterprise NX-01 mug for instance? I found them on the Star Trek fan club website, but unfortunately they were -sold out-! GAH!

Anyone have any experience purchasing Trek-related merchandise? How is the quality of stuff, is it any good? I’d purchased some stuff years ago from QVC and it was nice stuff, but expensive (I had one of those communicator pins that beeped, and I think that was $35–and that was back in 94! I’m not keen on Ebay, though–just looking for somewhere I can purchase stuff IRL or maybe online.

I really wish they would have made a Deanna Troi Barbie Style Doll. That’s what I would get.

I used to get catalogues from 1-800-Trekker and they had everything you could ever think of. Unfortunately it looks like they’ve folded :frowning:

Spencer Gifts sometimes carries Trek stuff. Your best bet would probably be a Toys R Us or something similar. Ebay always has a lot of stuff, but you need to know the realistic cost before you bid on anything - just because the seller says it is worth $50 doesn’t mean it is true.

Is this close enough, or does have to be afficially Barbie?

They did do a star trek Barbie, but it was TOS:

The Art Asylum line of TOS figures that’s currently out is amazing, but very few retailers are actually carrying it due to the poor performance of AA’s Enterprise and Nemesis figures. Aside from online retailers, I’ve only seen them at Meijer’s (first wave is green shirt Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Uhura, and Khan, I think the second is like, Mirror Mirror Kirk and Spock, Chekov, Sulu, and someone else I can’t really remember, then of course there’s the San Diego Comic Con exclusive yellow shirt Kirk with Phaser rifle), but they really are excellent figures - great articulation and sculpts.

Art Asylum also put out a nice Enterprise-A and an electronic Phaser with lights and sounds. Then there are the cool Star Trek minimates, little block-style figures with tons of articulation. They were planning on Next Gen minimates as well, but they were cancelled. The stuff is cool, the problem is no one’s buying it.

Best place I’ve seen to buy Trek stuff (as in walk-in-and-buy, not online) is the Las Vegas Hilton – the shop at the end of Star Trek: The Experience is just jammed with shizz…
