Back when I was growing up in the 1970s and '80s, you could get hundreds of Star Trek-related products – blueprints, uniforms, insignia, tech manuals, fanzines – and they were almost all produced by fans. I wonder what has happened to this cottage industry. I understand Paramount put the kibosh on “The Joy of Trek.” Have they also smothered the rest of the fan-produced memorabilia and publications industry?
Some of the items you mention above – blueprints especially – were authorized by Paramount. Independent fanzines still exist.
