Trent Richardson Traded

To Indy is what is being reported. What are the fantasy implications?

Will someone report the OP for a Title change to remove the 2nd sentence (about Senorbeef)? Sorry thought it was in the body not the subject.

Browns decided to just scoop the rest of the year, it seems. So Bradshaw is no longer even a flex option, and you’d be crazy to start any Brown for any reason.

Also, Hoyer is starting over Cambell. Yawn?

Just got that on my NFL mobile report. Traded to Indy for their 2014 first rounder.

A mid to late 1st rnd pick may or may not be a fair trade for Richardson, but throwing the season into the tank before week three is what rips my heart out. I’m a Brown’s fan, I am accustomed to having my hope torn out one week at a time I just don’t know what I’ll do with my Sundays until a year from two weeks ago.

Mcgahee to start this Sunday?

So next draft the Brown’s will have 2 1sts, 1 second, 2 3rds and 2 4rths. With Mike Lombardy pulling the trigger on all those picks.

Why can’t I stop supporting this team?

This is all I could find on the story with a quick search, but assuming it’s true…WTF? Why would the Browns do it?

McGahee is coming in for a physical. I already grabbed him for fantasy, along with the Minnesota Defense for this weekend.

Week 2 is a little early to completely quit on a season, but hey, they weren’t going anywhere anyway.

Same old Browns. Meet the new bosses, same as the old.

It’s clear the Browns need to overhaul the offense. They just don’t have the personnel to run a 21st century passing attack. They’ve been playing Richardson in single back sets, and it just doesn’t work. It’s been nothing but 3 yard runs with multiple defenders converging on him immediately because they did nothing to get him in space: no fullback, no guards worth a damn, no screen passes, nothing. So screw it, get a 1st round pick for him while he still has perceived value and retool next year.

Fuuuuuuudge

I don’t think Beef’s head will asplode but he may very well break out the raping boots he threatened to do if the Browns lost to the Ratbirds 7-6 (turns out 14-6 was a more palatable loss for him, though God knows why).

In the Week 2 thread Beef did make the comment about Richardson maybe being Cedric Benson v2.0 (something I said at the draft, having lived through Ced Benson I know of what I speak) so perhaps he’s not going to be too pissed. It’s not like Richardson have ever looked like the next ADP.

ETA: Incidentally, I’m not sure how I feel about this w.r.t Indy’s future prospects. I’m not a Richardson guy and the Colts basically spent a 1st rounder on him (maybe equivalent of a 2nd if you do the future pick math) and it’s never wise to burn a 1st on a RB in my mind. That said, RB was really the Colts only serious hole with Ballard hurt so maybe this gets them into contention at as the 2nd best team in the AFC this year.

I think he’ll flourish in Indy, actually, if for no other reason than the ownership there WANTS TO WIN and I think that trickles down to the field. It’ll probably take him a couple of weeks to get adjusted and really fit in, but I’d say this is a move that’ll really start paying dividends around week 5. Maybe sooner.

Have you ever seen a team so deliberately punt a year? They traded picks out of the draft this year for next year’s picks. They’re starting Hoyer rather than Campbell who gives them the best chance to win. They trade their nominal offensive star although Gordon is better and more important. Stockpiled picks for next year, tanking it.

I’ll say more later, but with all this bullshit, they better end up with a franchise QB next year.

I’ve heard rumors Gordon is on the block too…

As a strategy, punting a season really isn’t that bad. I mean, the Browns have had meaningless feel good wins in the last 2 weeks for the last few years putting the drafting 4th-8th instead of having a top pick, and all it did was keep them from getting a top tier guy. Who gives a shit if you go 4-12 instead of 3-11? After a fucking decade of dicking around, they need a quarterback. I mean, I fucking hate that football season is already over for me, but I guess if they’re just throwing in the towel anyway, it doesn’t matter to me if it’s 3-13 or 5-11. Although the way the defense is playing, I think they may squeeze out 6 wins anyway.

Nope. Wrongo. Trust me.

I don’t see the point of punting. It’s not like you get extra picks and in the NFL the difference between the 2nd pick and the 10th pick just isn’t big enough to blow a season. I’m on board with selling high on Richardson, that I can back, but the trading of picks in the draft was pointless.

I actually don’t think they were selling high on him - he’d look better over the next few weeks as they get one of their non-horrific guards back, and Gordon clears out some space to run Richardson. This is actually pretty much a selling low sort of opportunity.

I’m almost amused by the idea of Cleveland and Jacksonville trying to outdo one another. “Haha, traded away Richardson, your move Jax” “Oh yeah? We’re starting Tebow mic drop

But I don’t think Cleveland is nearly as bad as Jax, so it’s not really a competition. The defense will keep them in every game and they’ll win 5 or 6.

I agree. Cleveland’s front seven is actually really damn good. Problem is, without legit offensive drives they will wear down over time within games. Hoyer starting is MUCH more of a catastrophe than trading Richardson. While it’s surprising a team gave up on a 1st round pick they gave up so much to get in the first place, having two first rounders in the 2014 draft should help them.

God help you if you draft Manziel, though.
