Collin Quinn has to be secretly involved in this show in some way because it is not funny at all. I have caught 3 or 4 episodes of it and have not smiled one time. In fact, the people that they play these pranks on don’t even seem to react to them in any way. They may as well just stage the entire things in a studio because at least then they could pay the marks to show some sort of facial expressions or something.
Also, how did CQ get his own show 5 fricking nights a week? He is like a comedy orphan that all comedians must feel sorry for or something so they continue to give him work. Then, instead of compensating for his total lack of comedic ability by putting actual funny comics on there they put Nick Decarlo or whatever his name is on there. The guy is clearly a racist and homophobe and it is passed off as some sort of comedy on that show and no one cares when he goes on and on about how he doesn’t like black people or gays.
Is this the original British version or the new bastardized US version? I thought the British version was hysterical. I usually hate these hidden camera shows, but that one had me rolling on the floor. The US version, of course, sucks ass.
I’d say its like many “sketch” shows in that its got a few gems surrounded by an amount of filler. Some of the bits are truly hilarious, some of it is just too tame and obvious.
The thing that gets me about this show is that most of the time the marks don’t even react to the joke. At all. They just keep walking or going about their business.
This show rules. Someone is just jealous. Dom Jolly is ten times funnier than the new people, but the show is still worth watching. I would have abandoned it to the wolves had he not been back for season 2.
Hello! Have you ever heard of England? Have you ever heard of British people? Trigger Happy TV takes place in ENGLAND. And that’s what English people do, they just go on about their business rather than reacting to things. Now that you know that, you can appreciate the show better. Laugh at them. Laugh at how the English are so unresponsive. That’s what’s funny.
Uh, the only difference between the US version and the British version is that the US version has a Comedy Central bug in the bottom right hand corner. Other than that, it’s a direct import.
OK, apparently I should have been referring to season one and season two instead of the UK and US versions. I saw the ads on CC promising a new season with a new cast in new cities, and heard cast members with US accents, and assumed that season two was being done by US people instead of UK people. That said, I reiterate: season one was hysterical. What I’ve seen of season two so far is horrible.
The first season was the funniest thing on television.
This second one, I’m a bit undecided. As said, there seem to be only a few gems among the rest. I do enjoy the girl who does the cheerleader bits and stuff–she’s got good timing and charisma.
But please…more Dom!
I’ve not seen the new season yet, but every time I hear that annoying default Nokia cell phone whine masquerading as a ring, I expect it to be followed by someone bellowing “WHAT! HANG ON, YOU’RE CRACKING UP!” holding a four-foot tall phone.
No no, you were right. The new people actually say “America” in their bits (example: the cheerleader at the gas pump cheering that the customer is getting screwed - “Go American Economy!”)
I hate the new people. I think it was the puppy in the snow bit that did it for me. The one where the woman is talking on her phone, but her tiny dog is in a pile of snow (apparently he went digging and fell in). He comes out all frozen and stiff and lifeless (fake dog of course). That’s cute, but then she starts with the fake tears, making it tasteless and pathetic. I was really embarrassed for her.
I haven’t caught season two yet but the first time I saw Trigger Happy TV I just about laughed my ass off. I’m saddened to hear they’ve tampered with the show for season 2
