Jackass hops the pond and gets funny!

Why didn’t anyone tell me about Trigger Happy TV? Holy shit that show is funny!

We just caught it for the first time on Comedy Central last night. I’m not sure which was my favorite segment. It’s three-way tie between the squirrels chasing a lady and her son out of (what I think was) a telephone booth, the dude dressed in purple who would find some unsuspecting person, blow a horn and have a horde of followers dressed in red congregate behind him and bow to the person or the fish monger who received a package that contained a ‘dead’ SCUBA diver.

Unfortunately, the show was followed by Crank Yankers so that left me channel surfing for a half hour. I will definitely watch Trigger Happy TV next week, though. In fact, I can’t wait!

Glad to hear you liked it! I don’t know which came first - Trigger Happy or Jackass.

There’s a different style to the stunts, with less dumbassery, but a weird but somehow effective juxtaposition of the hilarious action and the often melancholy soundtrack. I love the music in the show, a lot of which is in my CD collection already. Though on the website there is an implication that it might not have the same soundtrack outside the UK.

Here’s the website.

Yes, the music does add to the whole experience that is Trigger Happy TV. My original OP had a dig at Jackass which, in my not so humble opinion, has gotten stupider. It lost in the editing, though.

Thanks for the link!

I think you owe the guy from THT an apology. The show is nothing like Jackass!

I love the foriegn guy, and Twazzer cheese, and the giant dogs, and the street artist, and… heck the whole damn show is great.

I found that the joke wears pretty thin very fast. But, yeah, very funny at first.

The show is revolves around actors arranging ‘spontaneous’ bizarre things to happen out on the street to freak out passers by. Not dissimilar to JackAss, but without the total disregard for personal safety.

The funniest one is the cyclist in the park getting mugged by guys in squirrel suits. And the giant mobile phone, though that one gets old very fast.

The most tedious and unfunny one, that they just kept doing every week, is when he dresses up as a park warden and accuses some old dears of behaving like hooligans. Something about making snide fun of old people who aren’t in on the joke and are honestly just trying to be helpful doesn’t sit right with me. That’ll teach them to be polite to total strangers! Why can’t they just tell him to F off like anyone else would?!

I’ve seen it a few times, and for some reason I don’t like it. I can’t put my finger on why that is though.

Thank your stars I’m not a Nelson household
