Triple A decals.

I always thought that, if AAA would stoop to placing infromation on random windshields at malls and wally world, that a properly Identified car would be passed over. Ive seen tons of AAA stickers on the back ((front)) of rear view mirrors. I think this would be a key placement, to avoid literature for a club, that youve already joined.

Let’s say you call AAA. You have a white late model sedan, in the grocery store lot. Having the AAA decal will help the two-truck driver spot your car. Sure, the decal all by itself isn’t proof you’re a member, and there may be several white sedans of your make in that same lot with AAA stickers, but it can help.

I have AAA stickers on my cars, and I put them there after thinking about it.

1 - Why not? I can’t see any downsides at all. The Auto Club of Southern California’s stickers are rather cool-looking, IMO.

2 - Theres a small possibility that this free advertising that I’m choosing to give them will help attract members. While this can be a double-edged sword, it seems more likely to be to my benefit than not.

If we decide we don’t like AAA or their policies anymore, off they’ll come - about the time we cancel our membership.

Around here, people who work for Saudi Aramco (the best company in the Kingdom) display green AAA stickers. Yep, Arabia Automobile Association.

The downside is that, while you think they are cool looking, IMO, any sticker on my car is tacky looking. I don’t like being required to display crap like parking permits on a vehicle either. It’s a car, not a flipping billboard.

I think it would be easier for the tow car driver to spot the (much larger, and uniformly placed) license plate on your vanilla Camry, or just tell him to look for the vanilla Camry with the people standing alongside, waving at him.

Fair enough. Re-reading my post, it appears that I’m questioning why anyone would have an aesthetic problem with it - this was not my intent.

Sloppy wording on my part. :smack:

You’re not rquired to, it’s 100% optional. So, if you have decided to display such crap, it’s your own fault. I can’t comprehend the anger at a free no strings attached gift. Use it ir not.

Heh, I have no less than five bumper stickers on my car, and a window decal too. But I (think I) have a legitimate reason…my car was in an accident some years ago, and the hood is somewhat misshapen. So if it’s going to look bad, anyway, may as well decorate it. If you can’t hide it, flaunt it is my opinion.

And yes, I’m with yabob, I’d probably obediently put it on my car, too. It’s not required, but my car is not nice enough for me to care if it looks tacky or not.

I’ve been an AAA member for years. When I first joined, to the best of my knowledge, it was the car that was registered. Putting a sticker on the car showed which vechile was registered. When I renewed a few years ago,I was told I didn’t have to have the sticker on the car, because now the driver was registered.

This is what I remember, but don’t vouch for it to be 100% accurate. We old fogeys are notorious for having bad memories.

I wasn’t referring to AAA stickers, I was referring to to my further example of parking permits. In which case it’s required, if I wish to park in the lot.

Do these stickers have the phone number to call when you need roadside assistance? (I have a different service, and they gave me a small decal, with the phone number, to put on a window if I wanted. It’s a lot handier to find the number there than by looking through a cluttered glove compartment).

Stoop? There is no “stoop” in americas , and probably any other countrys, business ethic. The term implies the existence of something higher.

I forgot my apostrophes. :smack: I never forget my apostrophes. I might forget an apostrophe’s apostrophe, though.

I’m not sure when they changed it (or even if they changed it, when I was a member it was always the person, not the car) but it was the only handy thing about AAA membership.

You are aware that your membership only entitles you to a maximum of, I believe, three road calls a year? After that, you’re on your own. That’s what I never liked about them.
