I wasn’t able to find Triplets threads, but maybe there are some without Belleville spelled (correctly) in the title. This is such a great movie - zany and clever and fun. It’s really a great moviegoing experience. Bruno the dog alone makes it worth the admission price, the way he clatters up the stairs every fifteen minutes on schedule to bark at the trains. There are so many priceless bits… musically and visually, I’ll definitely get this on DVD when it comes out so I can catch them all. It’s nice to see an animated movie that isn’t Disney cookie cutter or baffling anime, but just a smart and funny caper set in a unique world.
Saw it on Valentine’s Day with my wife. Didn’t catch any trailers, knew nothing of the visual style and little of the ‘story’.
Wow.
One of the best ‘Blind Buy’ moviegoing experiences I’ve had in a very long while. The joy shone through every frame of that film.
Triplets of Belleville is currently running #3 on my “faves of 2003” list. Absolutely wonderful, highly recommended.
Bruno is the doggiest dog I’ve ever seen in movies or television. He’s essence of dog. He’s the dog archetype.
I agree that Triplets of Belleville is a fine movie.
How about those frogsicles?
::shudder::
I liked the patient fortitude Bruno exhibited waiting for his share of the supper and later, the way he worked his way into an occupied bed. I murmurred to DesertRoomie “I’d bet the animator owns a dog.” She agreed.
