There’s a Triumph Herald on eBay.
You just fon’t see these anymore. My dad had one when I was about three years old. It was red, but my mom told me once that it was originally blue and he’d had it painted. I only have a single memory of dad’s Herald. We may have been in San Diego, or we may have been in Japan. It was a sunny day, and the hood was down. I remember facing backwards over the boot, and my mom was telling me to turn around. (I think I was kind of leaning over the boot while kneeling on the back shelf.)
I poked around the web a little (very little), and it seems the Herald sold fairly well in its day. I was under the impression that they weren’t great cars (one thing I read in a magazine once said, amazed, ‘Even Heralds are becoming collectable!’). I was surprised to read that they were made until 1971! Had dad not owned one, I would never have heard of them. I thought Triumph only made the TR4-series and the Spitfire through the '60s, plus a couple of others such as the Vitesse and the Stag (which I also didn’t know about until recently).
It’s too bad that I don’t have unlimited space and funds. The Herald is a cute little car, and I’d like to have one. (All boys like to play with cars, but the cars get bigger as the boys grow older. ) I’d list the cars I’d like to have in a collection, but I think that’s a subject for another thread.
