I just noticed that this is post 22,222 in this thread. Interesting.

Post #22,222+1:

The number 22,222 is not a prime number (obvious, of course, for it is an even number). 22,222 is also not a Fibonacci number, and it is also not a Bell number, and it is also not a Catalan number. In binary form, 22,222 is 101011011001110, and in hexadecimal form, 22,222 is 56CE.

56CE is a pretty good guess for when the last Greek colonies in ancient India (although all in modern Pakistan) died out.

Fremantle, off Perth, was the home port for the first America’s Cup races since the US’ loss of the trophy for the first time, to Australia. New Zealand and Switzerland have also won the Cup, which is now back in US hands.

There have been two warships named Fremantle in the Royal Australian Navy, the second of which was a patrol boat decommissioned in 2006.

The 1988 America’s Cup was the first hostile Deed of Gift challenge, issued by New Zealand. Under the Deed of Gift rules the yachts were to be of single-mast design and no more than 27m at the waterline. The rules did not specify the number of hulls, and so this race was the first where the two yachts had different fundamental designs. New Zealand’s KZ-1 was a single hulled 27m yacht, and the United States’ Stars & Stripes H3 twin-hulled catamaran yacht was a decidedly faster design that annihilated the Kiwis. Challenged in court, the USA victory was upheld.

Rebecca Latimer Felton was the first woman senator in the USA. She served for one day, at the age of 87, and was the last former slave owner to serve in the senate.

The Famous Five in Canada were a group of five women who pressured the federal government to refer a question to the Supreme Court, asking if women were “persons” who could be summoned to sit in the Senate. The Supreme Court ruled against the Five, but on appeal to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, they were successful: women were “persons” for the purposes of eligibility to sit in the Senate. The Persons Case is now seen as a landmark case in the recognition of women’s equality in Canada.

Quintets were common in the early R&B era, including hits by the Jive Five (My True Story) and the Five Satins (In the Still of the Night).

By 1964, two separate quintets had started their meteoric rise to stardom in the USA. Both quintets were families of brothers: The Jackson Five, and The Osmonds.
