Trivia Dominoes: Play Off the Last Bit of Trivia

The #1 tourist destination in the world by International Tourist arrivals is France.

The tomb of Jules Verne (1828-1905) in the Cimetière de la Madeleine in Amiens, France, features a statue depicting Jules Verne breaking through his own tombstone and emerging from the grave.

Captain Nemo (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea) anf Pileas Fogg (Around the World in Eighty Days) are probably the two most well-known non-title protagonists of two different books by the same author, endowing Jules Verne with a special distinction…

Wow, I didn’t know that! Good trivia.

In play:

British actor James Mason played Capt. Nemo in the 1954 Disney production of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Among his many other roles, Mason played a man fixated on a teenage girl (Lolita), a Roman senator (Julius Caesar) an angel (Heaven Can Wait) and a vampire’s familiar ('Salem’s Lot).

The 1978 film Heaven Can Wait was a remake of Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941). * Heaven Can Wait* was produced, and co-directed, by Warren Beatty.

Beatty originally planned a more direct remake of the older film, which dealt with a boxer who comes back to life – to that end, Beatty wanted to cast Muhammad Ali in the starring role. However, as Ali was still dedicated to his boxing career, Beatty was unable to persuade him to take the role. Beatty then decided to cast himself, and changed the story to make his character (Joe Pendleton) a pro football quarterback with the Los Angeles Rams.

I loved that movie. Imagine back then — the LA Rams go to the Super Bowl!! And they win it!!! In the movie, the Rams beat the Pittsburgh Steelers,

And of course, the beautiful Julie Christie (image, https://is.gd/T8N9Tj). I was in love!

Okay, in play — the following year, 1979, the year after Heaven Can Wait was released, the Rams and the Steelers did in fact get to the Super Bowl!! The same two teams in the movie. That was Super Bowl XIV, and at halftime the heavy underdog Rams actually had the lead, 13-10! Going into the 4th quarter the Rams (still!!) led, 19-17. Alas, in the 4th quarter the Steelers scored two touchdowns to take the lead and put the game away. They won, 31-19.
