Trivia Dominoes: Play Off the Last Bit of Trivia

Sally Kellerman, who played Maj. Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in the movie version of MAS*H, was Dr. Elizabeth Dehner in the second STAR TREK pilot.

Ernie Kellerman, who starred at quarterback for Miami University before playing eight seasons as an NFL defensive back, was a member of the first graduating class of suburban Cleveland’s St. Peter Chanel High School. One of his classmates was Ernie Horvath, who changed his name to Ian and went on to found the Cleveland Ballet. Their teacher for general music was my father.

A large, black and white portrait of Frank the dog, briefly J’s partner in Men in Black 2, hangs in J’s New York City apartment in the latest MIB movie.

Men in Black was the only Three Stooges film ever nominated for an Oscar (1934, Best Comedy Short). A spoof of the hospital drama Men in White, it is best remembered for the PA-system pages “Calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard … calling Dr. Howard, Dr. Fine, Dr. Howard …”

Whereas most men are born with two of ** these***, Frank Sinatra was born with only one, due the ministrations of a clumsy obstetrician.

The only Oscar won by Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy was for The Music Box, best comedy short of 1932.

In the first year of Sesame Street, Oscar the Grouch was orange. He changed to green the next year.

In his first appearance on “The Simpsons” in the episode “Homer’s Odyssey”, Waylon Smithers was black, due to a production miscommunication.

The original model for Homer Simpson’s voice was Walter Matthau.

Walter Matthau served in WWII as a B-24 Radioman, Gunner, and as a radio cryptographer with the 453rd Bomb Group.

Jimmy Stewart was also in the 453rd serving as the Group Operations Officer in 1944. Stewart received the Distinguished Flying Cross (twice) and the Croix de Guerre as well as the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf clusters. He progressed from the rank of Private to Colonel in just four years and flew more than 20 combat missions as a B24 pilot. Eventually, Stewart reached the rank of Brigadier General in the Air Force Reserve.

Jimmy Stewart and Don “Mr. Wizard” Herbert were B-24 pilots in Europe.

When Tooter the Turtle got in trouble, Mr. Wizard the Lizard would save him by saying “Drizzled, drazzle, drozzle drum, time for dis one to come home”

Wizards and Warriors was a short-lived TV show starring Jeff Conaway (just after leaving Taxi) as Prince Erik Greystone. Its combination of sword and sorcery with comedy did not catch on.

Jeff Conaway, who struggled with drug abuse and depression most of his life, had a recurring role as a security officer on Babylon 5.

Conway, Arkansas’ nickname is the City of Colleges due to its having three post-secondary educational institutions.

On “McHale’s Navy,” Tim Conway’s character Ens. Charles Parker was from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, the actor’s real hometown.

Kevin McHale is the name of both the power forward on the Boston Celtics “Big Three” championship teams of the 1980’s, and the able-bodied actor (and former boy-band singer) who plays the wheelchair-bound Artie on “Glee”.

In Home Alone, many people believe that the bearded man standing in line behind Kevin’s mother at the airport was actually Elvis Presley (who REALLY DID NOT DIE IN 1977)!
