Pedantically, it logically implies that trans women are a separate class from women, rather than a subset of women. In reality, it would only cause any offense if someone were deliberately trying to imply that trans women are not women in some convoluted evasive way. (And that would never happen, of course!)
Ahem, the third person “you”.
Oh, sorry.
~Max
Huh? No, the unmodified word “women” DOES ALWAYS include trans women.
The “not required” part is saying that you can refer to an individual as either a woman, or more specifically (when relevant) as a cis or trans woman.
As one must learn to expect, Ed’s writing of the rules leaves much so very, very, clear. [/s]
Anyone else notice the recent three-week lull in pedantic nitpickery and overly-tedious dissection of the rules? That was nice.
In other news, welcome back, Max.
Thanks, I had (have) stuff going on IRL.
Though I will say, there’s a nifty timed ignore feature if you ever want another reprieve. Just go to my profile and change the dropdown from normal to ignored.

I have a high tolerance for signal to noise ratio (only two people on my ignore list), and you’re nowhere close to being ignored. I’ll continue to read your good posts and complain about the tedious ones (in the appropriate forum).
Or a “cunt-splice”. Patrick O’Brian dropped that one in Master and Commander, to make a subtle dirty joke.
Two sailors, one marlinespike?
I have a marlinspike but not a marlinespike.
I’ve builts oars, sprits, a boom, a mast and dozen of wooden cleats. Even packing tools out of scrap oak as we only had one packing iron.
Then I helped build a new Tuckerton Sailing Garvey after we retired the old one to the Tuckerton Seaport Museum which is pretty damn cool.
Sadly my Navy Ship is scrap having failed to raise money for the USS Ranger to become a museum near Portland.
Jebus, Im on my phone and failed to realize what thread this was.
My last ship has been an artificial reef for about 20 years.
I came in this evening, saw this thread with, like, ~150 new replies and thought “Holy fuck, it’s a veritable trollstravaganza!”
No. Just another attempt by a net-negative poster to turn this into the “Trolls Is Meez” thread. If octo were on the kelvin scale, he’d break the laws of physics, just like he manages to break this thread about know-nothing losers by somehow knowing less than nothing and actively seeking out ways to be worse and worse every single day that passes.
I think that was the sequence of about eight posts beginning with this one. IMHO there was a fair bit of callous defensiveness from a couple posters there, not only YWTF, shrugging off trans suicidality to avoid acknowledging that TERF anti-trans rhetoric can contribute to it.
That’s nice. Who are you?
So now octopus is openly promoting hate speech in the name of freedom of expression.
You’ve sunk so low, you’re pathetic. You’re not even worth being mad at anymore. You’re an object of pity.
You claim to be in favor of free speech but you’re full of shit. No you don’t. You have no actual ethics, you stand for nothing.
You’re not even worth putting on ignore.
Big pity. I’m a big fan of wooden boatbuilding - been following Tally Ho for years.
For similar veins of shipbuilding/refitting/remodeling I would recommend Tales from a Shipwright and Brupeg.
Neither are warships, or very big boats even. Tips has done two skiffs and a scull(?) and is amid building a boat similar to Orca from Jaws.
I haven’t seen much of Project Brupeg, but it’s the salvage/restoration/conversion of an older steel boat into a workboat thats been going on for a few years and hundreds of episodes by a small group/couple.
