I have seen him be less irritating, but I have never seen him be smarter. There’s a group of people who learn a form of circumlocuity that enables them to trick others into thinking they’ve got Big Ideuhz, and end up fooling themselves into thinking the same thing. DA is squarely in that category.

As the ATMB thread shows, he is willing to ignore that ignorance drove a lot of the vote in Virginia. As it happens, a lot was based on unfounded fears, and we get as a result, bigoted and ignorant public non servants.

That’s who s/he is, Octo. A valuable member of this community. In marketing terms, ASL is one of the most valuable assets of all, a cheerleader, a person who promotes the product of their own accord.
Again, Octopus, this is a business. And I have a metric, surely not the only one, nor even the most important one, which tells any executive/marketing person paying attention that there is a cluster of posters who actively promote the SDMB.

Let me make this clearer.
If @Miller owned a hamburger restaurant, and you came in, bought the smallest thing possible, and then:
- You denigrated the very concept of hamburgers to anyone who listens
- You argue with the customers about their like of hamburgers and how they refuse to call it “dead cow”.
- You argue with the staff, making their days much harder, constantly telling them how horrible they are performing all the extra work your presence demands.
Imagine @What_Exit had an insurance agency and you:
- Sat down and started talking shit about the concept of insurance.
- Told the clients they were idiots for using insurance.

How long would it be before you were asked to leave? And if you came back and acted the same way, how long before the police are called? And if you came back and acted the same way, how long until restraining orders are implemented?
The problem with the moderation in this place, if there is a problem, is that it is not focused on the bottom line. No business in the United States of America would tolerate someone acting the way you do. You drive away customers, you make extra work for the staff above and beyond your value, and after 7, 8 years you do not have any metrics by which you can defend your presence here - and even your body of work, Octopus, is worth nothing as it’s only about you and your discontent.
In 2007, Sprint did something which took the business world by storm: They fired their top-1,000 malcontents. They said “it is obvious that the service we provide is not capable of living up to your standards, therefore we are canceling your accounts.”
As a customer who aggressively and purposely brings negative value to the Straight Dope Message Board, the moderators would be most assuredly justified if they banned you because, to paraphrase Sprint, While the moderators have worked to resolve your issues and questions to the best of their ability, the number of inquiries you have made to them during this time had led everyone to determine that the SDMB is unable to meet your current message board needs.
The moderators obviously can’t make you happy. Your presence is an economic loss. You attack those with economic value.
You should be banned. For your sake as well as ours.
I see you typing and nothing you say is going to take away the fact that you are a material economic loss, draining a massive amount of moderator resources and time, and this has been the case for eight years.

Yes, it’s technically a metric… Anyways, discussion boards business is discussion not the promotion of a social circle jerk/ideological hive. That’s boring and a recipe for demise. One could make the argument that banning folks have caused more problems with regards to traffic than allowing lively discussion and explaining the ignore feature to the easily triggered.
And finally the mods could easily make me happy but this is not the forum to discuss that. 
Final finally, if you are the same poster who recommended selling at the lowest stock market price in recent history I’m not sure your economic ‘analysis’ is worth anything.
