I’m complaining on a board that prides itself in writing in complete sentences, people use obscure acronyms. If this was a Dog Breed thread it would be different. But it was pretty dumb to use it here.
Probably true, but irrelevant to this exchange.
Bullshit. You fucked up, don’t claim it was a teaching moment.
You could ask it you were unaware, that’s something that it possible for you to do. It’s not that obscure, and it was relevant to the thread that was being talked about. As I said, anyone who would agree that the OP was trolling would know what I meant, and that who it was meant for.
Relevant in that I am casting doubt on the accuracy of that OP’s story.
My, you really have become quite the piece of shit, haven’t you?
Meanwhile, look at all those in that thread, feeding the troll. It’s informative as to who you choose to attack.
I don’t even care about that thread or the dumbass argument that has been going on for 20 years on this board. The answer is slightly complicated as anyone with a working brain knows quite well.
“Bred-specific legislation” did show up, but after a bunch of other uses. The main use for that acronym is British Sign Language. I also came up with biological safety levels (or biosafety levels) and Bachelor of Sacred Literature (which is a degree you can earn, I guess). There is even a “shader pack” for Minecraft called BSL Shaders that comes up before.
So, yeah, it’s somewhat obscure. You have to look up “bsl dog” or something equivalent if you want to get a lot of info on it.
I was favoring BSL as “Bull Shit …”, but got stumped. Maybe “Labels” fit the context?
Edited to add: I find acronyms are exclusionary, in that they make it difficult for out-groups to understand what in-groups are saying. Similar to jargon and slang, acronyms aren’t really helpful in general-interest communities.
Now now, we’ve all been a bit on edge after jackass dropped his poison bait-bomb and the (worthwhile) debate about the use of loaded language. We’re tearing each other to pieces when we should be catching and expulsing the trolls.
@k9bfriender and @What_Exit should kiss and make up, united by their hate of manipulative trolls and love of nitpicking and being right on the internet.
The OP however also reported that the dog’s human grabbed the dog, held on to it, and shouted at the OP to run. While that may not have been the best advice (though shelter was close and the human had some sort of grip on the dog, so it may have been), it does imply that the human with the dog also thought the dog intended to attack.
I’m in that thread (defending the breed, yet), and I didn’t.
Look at Masterkiller in the “Trump’s indictment” thread in P&E. Not really inflammatory (aside from the “end of story no debate needed” comment), but I get a sockish vibe. Especially since those two posts are the only posts from this person aside from 2 others about one hit wonders.
I’d like to think this is just a new poster who found our community and is shy about contributing, but this is pinging all kinds of warnings to me. Just a hunch here.
