Well, he did a flounce out of that thread (you could just see the pout), and later it was closed. In my estimation he won zero points, got some good advice from mods and other posters, and I expect will completely ignore it.
There’s a body odor question from a first time poster over in IMHO and… it’s a strange first post and in a surprisingly confident tone. Hmmm.

Like in the thread “Say something that is true to a person in 1985 that will make you sound like a crazy person” post 125, where he deliberately misgendered Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine, calling her a “trans man.” I called him out for it* (but nobody saw my rebuke because at that point the thread stopped happening). He was probing to see how much off-topic transphobia he could sneak into a thread and get away with it. Other off-topic transphobic posts in that thread got moderated; I don’t want Sam to get away with deliberately being obnoxious to trans women. Consider him busted.

It doesn’t seem strange to me, it’s a mildly interesting thought, without apparent prurient interest. Quite possibly a lurker who has read enough of the Dope to know the proper forum to post in, and how to write a post to fit in (to give the benefit of the doubt, which I think is always a good idea). I sincerely hope I don’t have cause to come back and eat my words from this post.

Trolls indeed. At least 3 of these in the last week I think.
The “horny” one in IMHO (rezzer cornfielded already) had tons of posts by regulars which wouldn’t fly on today’s board given the anti-sexism rules we now have in place. Kind of jarring to read actually.

The eight-sided one just posted yet another odd OP regarding warfare. Their other OPs that relate to such always give me the vibe of *now, don’t just give me the conventional wisdom; I want the Real DealTM; I’m totally not looking for conspiracy theories wink wink nudge nudge finger alongside nose.
I don’t usually read their OPs because they always seem to be specific requests for information in fields that I am both uninformed in and indifferent to. Having read this one now thanks to your post here, I have to say I don’t see anything like what you are describing. Of course I may be blind to the vibe that you are getting, but the idea that Russia might settle for some of the territory they’ve stolen is hardly a conspiracy theory, nor a new idea. It’s also true the ostensive purpose of the thread, to find out if there is “a military term or phrase” for this practice, seems completely pointless to me, which is why I passed it by the first time I saw it.
I always get a “do my homework for me” vibe, nothing else. And apparently we’re now OK with that, as I’ve been expressly told by the mods in regards to their threads.
