Thanks, y’all. As I said, it’s not a huge deal. But @What_Exit did basically call me dishonest, saying I was putting words in TOWP’s mouth and adding things that weren’t there. I would have appreciated an apology and retraction, instead of a change of subject to the issue of trolling. It doesn’t look like I’m going to get that. I’ll survive.

Putting words in someone’s mouth means inaccurately claiming someone said something they didn’t. In other words, lying.
Paraphrasing a person means accurately summarizing what a person said.
They’re essentially opposite of each other, why anyone assume one is the same as the other?!
Also, people can despise illegal immigration without being willing to shoot undocumented children being brought into the country to act as a deterrent. I can’t believe 30% of US citizens are willing to directly participate in such a thing.

It’s not so much taking what you said out of context, and more mocking how wrong the statement was. Your claim that TWOP’s position is the same as 30% of Americans is wrong. You were making assumptions about his position.
LHOD wasn’t. He did not put words in someone’s mouth. He is not a liar. He accurately stated TWOP’s opinion–one so horrible you couldn’t believe TWOP actually said it.
I understand why you were wrong. It’s hard to believe anyone could hold that position. But he does. He advocates shooting children who cross the border, and would do it himself.
So I totally get why LHOD is hoping for an apology. You accused him of lying.

I do understand that there is disagreement with whether they meet the boards definition of ‘Troll’, or if their statements are literal statements of intent (if so, doubling down on the evil fucker above) or overblown RWNJ bluster. And since the mods tend to give the benefit of the doubt to all until all other options have been exhausted, I don’t see the point in shredding @What_Exit, especially if the thread in question is in @Miller’s corner of our little home.
@What_Exit - it does look like in an effort to be evenhanded (which is part of being a mod even in poster mode) your statements look like you’re downplaying the other’s concerns, which are understandable and considerable. There are absolutely better ways to address that, and we all have better things to do than give TOWP more headspace.
