I didn’t even know what kratom was until now, but I think we’ve all been given ample reason to avoid taking it given the evident effects of doing so.
I don’t know what it is either, but it’s rather freely available in Portland (Oregon), judging from all the signs I see around here (and it’s not just at dispensaries. I saw a gas station selling it).
It’s a drug that supposedly has an opioid-like high, but has not been scheduled as one so it’s legal in most places. I haven’t tried it.

I listened to a report on CBS this morning about Kratom. The thing that really struck out to me was the claim that there are over 8000 providers, but only about 3000 are legitimate. That’s a lot of non legitimate product out there.
No wonder that there have been reports of coma and death with its use. I ain’t trying it.
