I’ve seen black bears in our woods. Really a cool experience. I wish I was faster with a camera. In those same woods, a strange man is someone who has ignored the NO TRESPASSING signs and is now a problem I need to deal with. I wish I carried a gun in that situation. No desire for a gun with the black bear.
We’d see black bears occasionally stroll through our campsite when my son was a Boy Scout. Very cool, and they seemed very uninterested in the goings-on. A friend with a house in the Poconos put a motion-triggered camera in the woods next to a salt lick. Some awesome pictures of various fauna, including bears that looked to be about 400 lbs.
We’ve had a few bear sightings at our own Pocono house, including a mama and five cubs (an unusually large number) who strolled around and behind our house, then into the deep woods. Once a HUGE black bear strolled behind our screened-in deck. He must have been 500 lbs. He walked right under the screen we were peeking out of, and most certainly smelled us. He did not care one bit, strolling along leisurely. Such is the life of a 500-lb bear, I guess.
About every other year, a couple of black bears will visit our bird feeders and/or trash cans in the spring. They’ll wander through our yards, eating what they can get to. Banging pots and pans are only mildly curious to them: they’ll look up at the window to see what’s going on, see me, and return to their rummaging. I barely even register to them, but I get the sense that if I did register to them, it wouldn’t go well for me.
Beware the panda. Famously eats, shoots, and leaves.
Slept in, ran errands, and now I have a chance to check on the dope. I couldn’t help but notice the FUBAR thread has been closed again, with (of course) an accompanying ATMBD thread and the same advice being given that we mentioned upthread.
I’d be proud of our foresight, but it was unspeakably predictable.

If it is searching its name periodically using the search feature, then of course it’s a troll. If it stumbles into this thread on its own… then it will get the riddles right away and know you’re talking about it.

I honestly can’t figure out whether J-Z is a troll or is really that stupid. Check out his contributions in the Man-Woman-Bear thread, or in Moonrise’s thread on romantic relationships. If he’s a troll, he’s got me on the hook, and I need to disengage. If he’s that stupid, I need to quit pinataing the low-hanging fruit, to mix metaphors.

I personally think of him as “the board misogynist”; and not in the low-level way that a lot of men of a certain age are, but in a very visceral, deeply-internalized way.

I mean, yeah, I’m leaning towards asshole rather than specifically troll or stupid myself. It’s like he internalizes all complaints about “men” as about him specifically, as some sort of direct insult, and feels that it’s unfair that women are somehow being treated better than he is while he is subject to all of those attacks.
So, IMHO, asshole.
Although the whole refusing to read for comprehension is, equally IMHO trollish.
