They’ve shown signs of being a concern troll regarding Trump and the invasion of Ukraine, as documented earlier in this thread. It’s just more of the same.
Yeah, that’s the weirdest thing. I mean, I sometimes joke, “hey, I resemble that remark!”, but he seems to believe it whenever anything bad is said about men anywhere.
If his earlier predictions had panned out, Trump would have won the last election by a mile, Russia would have steamrolled Ukraine in under 6 months, and Trump would never have even seen the inside of a courtroom.
Sad fact but some people are only loosely in touch with reality
If you’ve missed some of his earlier threads: his wife divorced him for another guy she’d been seeing while they were married. He was was badly hurt and feels like he got fucked over by her. It’s colored everything he’s posted since.
Which is understandable, if a little frustrating for the reader. But he has a convoluted way of writing and framing his arguments. They never seem to make much sense to me. At first I thought it was me, but I’m pretty sure it’s him.

So, it explains some of the reasons he’s an asshole, but doesn’t change the fact that he is one. But does substantially increase my sympathy for the asshole.

Can’t remember, but has Shodan ever trocked here? Because there’s a new-ish poster (who joined just after Synco de Mayo) doing the same “deliberately misinterpret everything you say” shtick Shodan used to do.
Could be a different dishonest asshole, but I was wondering if he was back.
Trocking doesn’t really strike me as Shodan’s style. He seems like the kind of guy who would take his banning as a personal victory, and walk away.
What if his ex-wife (if she really exists) was with someone else because J-Z was a misogynistic asshole?

Well, first, as @Atamasama said, I can sympathize without it being any form of excuse. Second, like a lot of things on the internet, you’re right we only have their word for it, but in the absence of other evidence I generally assume board members are being honest until proven otherwise (several trolls in this thread, banned members, and certain owners of dedicated pit threads).
Lastly though, and a more general point tied to the first, it is useful to know the circumstances that have bent an individual, and yes, even be sympathetic, but you still have to judge the person on who they are right now barring some form of clinical pathology that cannot be treated.
For an extreme example, I can look at the Donald Trump of his childhood, who was absolutely mind-fucked by his father, and have sympathy for who they were and could have been. But I’m not going to excuse anything they’ve done as an adult because of it. It’s also useful in attempting to figure out why they do the shit they do, or why they react the way they react, which can be helpful.
Back down to the small stakes of J-Z, maybe it means that they are worthwhile posters in threads that don’t touch on their sore spots - you turn on your internal “ignore” feature in such threads, as many seem to do for Sam_Stone as an example.
Or you figure after sufficient evidence and exposure that their issues are so overwhelming that they feel forced to bring said issue into EVERY THREAD (my feelings on S_S, and a few other posters) and use the tools Discourse gives us to mute them.

Super long-term poster, relatively eloquent, very familiar with board etiquette and rules, many past incidences of trolling other posters but managed to avoid going over the line too much. And he was only banned within the last year or two.

Not really a rule at all, but adding the “@” lets the individual in question know they’ve been mentioned here. A sock would presumably already know about the Pit and this thread and might unzip their fly if they come in here unsummoned.
I had a very painful childhood, but I am about as diametrically opposed to DFT in personality and morals as likely can be. [90% of it due to my peers tho not my parents, but they kept putting me into highly unsuitable schools for me, highly structured Catholic schools which worked for my dad as a kid but I thrived when I could do my own thing.]
