I’ll note that not one person is defending Stranger’s asinine off-topic comments either.
Anyway, I’ve said what I needed to say about him, so feel free to continue ignoring the substance of my comment and dogpile on me for not buying into every made-up story about Israel that anyone ever floated.
Whether intentional or not, @Smapti might as well be a troll on anything related to Gaza and Israel. He’s regressed to the extreme stubborn stupidity of the old @Smapti on anything related to law enforcement.
I’m in agreement with @Atamasama - yeah, not a good fit for this thread, but kudos to all for keeping the simmering aggression out of the thread. As for the insinuation that Stranger or Smapti is trolling, well… I’m going to be as hyper rational as I can about this, even if it’s the pit, because I have a pile of pre-existing prejudice, so be warned.
IMHO there is a possibility of debate on the exact nature of the incident, if it’s kept narrow and specific (for the record, I think that there’s no actual conspiracy there, just a series of fumbles, bumbles, and high tension on all sides with horrific consequences, and that efforts to throw blame back and forth, and save face back and forth have further reduced any hope to get a 100% clear understanding).
BUT - it’s like trying to have a narrow, focused and specific debate on how much if any “advantage” a trans athlete has in sports. The well is so very tainted by the prejudice and people who have been using it as an issue or excuse for prejudice that any attempt to do it is going to be (justifiably) looked at with scorn, distrust and dismissal.
Personally, I think Stranger is better than that most of the time in his arguments, and TBH, he did bring specifics as to why he felt that the scenario is less plausible, but in light of taint above, @Smapti’s response is understandable.

I have a reputation to live down. There was a prior incident where someone got my goat and I righteously flamed them in the Pit, and was sentenced to punishment that cost me serious SAN points in this thread.
Which is one of the reasons I created the sister thread, and for that matter, called someone out in it today.

You can’t make that shit up, a thread in the Pit named “New user sees ignorance here on the dope about Trump”, indeed the first post by that poster (I haven’t read any of it). And there are already 45 posts, so people respond. Can it get any more trollish?
Yes, obvious indeed, but I still read 25 of the 45 answers so far in that thread. The answers were good, but it was a waste of time. At least I did not answer, and he is unlikely to read here.
