Trolls R Us Resurrections

Well, you DID ask for it…

Potential future celebrities just don’t count for me, I don’t get the same satisfaction.

Besides, it’s a bit different saying, “fine, I’ll call you one, happy now?” (reads as a well-meaning joke to me) and saying the below (emphasis added for clarity):

That’s one high burden to bear for celebrity…

I call this the Big ‘Bang’ Theory.

Responded as only a true dipstick could

Are you laboring under the impression that it has actually happened?

ETA: What I said about sense of humor above.

“Dipstick” just means you’re one of us.

Waiting for someone to use dipstick as a username

Stupid sock rules!

My username means “dipstick” in Japanese.

(That may be an absolute filthy lie.)

How about has-been, extremely minor celebrities? I was recognized on the street a couple of times in the 90s!

Your username in Hawaiian would be “Akamakama” but it still wouldn’t mean “dipstick”.

For the record, even though I think a few people are being a bit more skeptical than is warranted at this point, I do not think they are being rude. And I don’t think the initial skeptical posts (before we had any proof) were rude at all.

I also wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that NDT was thinking about becoming a regular here, let alone that anything in particular pushed him away.

I could start talking about the consequences of an out celebrity posting in a small pond community, but I think I’ll bow out. I’m probably being too serious by half for the tenor the thread has taken by this point.

You’re not being too serious, you’re just being a total dipstick.

Darn it. That was a lost opportunity, wasn’t it?

Considered it, but thought that might give me away too easily. I’m just annoyed I was rumbled so quickly regardless!

Thanks for your consideration!
Hate to say it wouldn’t be quite the same – think of it the same way as autographs, that helps.

On the other hand, if it was reported somewhere, preferrably in print, that would raise my tickle levels immensely! I’d love to see the headline “has-been extremely minor celebrity from nineties calls a complete nobody a dipstick”. Make of that what you will – I guess I’m just digging myself ever deeper… maybe I ought to take this up with my therapist.

Welp, that’s the way it goes. Despite my anonymity I’ve already revealed too much about my perversions and ruined my reputation.

You know, I can’t be bothered to check if he’s still doing this (but considering his financial situations…)

I’m sure you could get a once-and-future has-been celeb to call you a dipstick for as little as $199… possibly less by now!

Read all the NdT kerfuffle, and the tweet makes me think it might actually be The Most Powerful Mustache In Science. But if it isn’t, so what? @neiltyson’s posts in the Newton thread were interesting, courteous, and added to the discussion; they gave no reason not to welcome the poster to the SDMB, no matter who he or she is.

Aww, I understand.

Totally on board with that idea, but I fear we’d have to start our own paper.

My Mother once saw Gordie Tapp in a grocery store. She wasn’t sure who he was but knew she had seen him on TV. She thought he looked a bit sorry that no one in the store seemed to recognize him so she asked him for an autograph. Just the kind of thing she would do because she thought it would make someone happier. I’ve always thought I should be more like her in that regard.

@scabpicker, can I have your autograph?
